This article contains predictions for an old game.

The Seattle Seahawks (3-0) and Detroit Lions (2-1) will face off tonight in the second half of the Week 4 Monday Night Football doubleheader. Kickoff is set for 8:15 p.m. ET from Ford Field in Detroit. The game will be broadcast live on ABC and can be streamed on platforms like ESPN+ and YouTube TV.

The Lions are consensus 4-point favorites over the Seahawks on the spread (Lions -4), with the over/under currently set at 47 points. The Lions are -210 on the moneyline, and Seattle is +175 to pull off the upset.

Seahawks QB Geno Smith has 3 touchdowns and 3 interceptions in wins over the Broncos, Patriots and Tua Tagovailoa-less Dolphins. On the other side, Jared Goff completed 18-of-23 passes last week and threw 2 touchdowns, while the Lions ran for 187 yards and held Kyler Murray in check.

In injury news, Seattle will be getting back running back Kenneth Walker III after he missed Weeks 2 and 3 with an oblique injury.

Let's get into my Seahawks vs. Lions predictions and my NFL picks for Monday night of Week 4.

Spread

I'm not going to bet the spread for the second half of tonight's doubleheader.

Moneyline

I'm passing on the moneyline tonight, as well.

Over/Under

I am betting a total in this one, but it's not on the full game. Instead, let's take Detroit to go under its team total. I'll explain why below.

Monday Night Football Week 4 Preview

This isn't the first time the Seahawks and Lions have met in recent years, and you'll likely hear a lot about those recent meetings in the buildup to this game.

Seattle won 37-31 in overtime last season, 48-45 the year before and 51-29 the season before that — with offense and fireworks for days and at least 41 points in the second half of all three games. That would certainly lean toward an over here, but I'm actually looking at a different game from last season: Detroit's 38-6 drubbing at the hands of Mike Macdonald's Ravens.

Jared Goff still doesn't handle pressure well and is going to see plenty of it against Macdonald's Seattle defense. The Seahawks have been incredible on defense, ranking top three in DVOA against both the run and the pass. Macdonald has totally turned this unit around and his unique defensive play calling has been especially good against the league's best offensive systems.

Additionally, Detroit's offense actually hasn't been that great so far this season. The passing attack ranks below average and the unit as a whole is just 13th by DVOA, a far cry from expectations for Ben Johnson's unit.

And now things may be much worse with star center Frank Ragnow sidelined. Per Nate Tice, the Lions with Ragnow last season ranked top four in yards per play, success rate and EPA per play. With Ragnow out, they plummeted to the bottom six in both success rate and EPA per play. For a team built entirely around winning in the trenches, Ragnow has proven to be key to Detroit's success.

I'm not sure books have caught up to how good Seattle's defense is — nor to Detroit's relatively tepid offensive output thus far.

The Lions have only gone over 25.5 points once — by just half a point — and needed an overtime touchdown to get there in Week 1. Detroit has scored 20, 16 and 20 in regulation, and that was against the Rams, Bucs and Cardinals, all below average defenses, with two of them among the worst in the league.

This is a great clash between outstanding NFC teams, the sort of cagey battle that could very well end up being a playoff preview. Let's see what Seattle's remade defense can do against this high-charged Lions offense.

Pick: Lions Team Total Under 25.5
