  • Tim Tebow has been released from the Jacksonville Jaguars after just one preseason game.
  • Wagers placed on Tebow's player props will be refunded in full by PointsBet.
  • At DraftKings, the possibility that he would be released was priced into the market. Therefore, all bets made on Tebow futures at the sportsbook will be valid.

Tim Tebow's excursion as an NFL tight end came to an abrupt end on Tuesday after he was unceremoniously released by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Tebow had reunited with his former college coach Urban Meyer in north Florida in an attempt to revive a football career that had been all but over.

But, just three days after his first preseason game at his new position, the former Broncos and Florida Gators quarterback will be packing his bags. The 34-year-old played in 16 downs at tight end against the Browns and was targeted just once with no receptions.

He did do whatever this is, though:

"Thankful for the highs and even the lows, the opportunities, and the setbacks," Tebow said in a statement. "I’ve never wanted to make decisions out of fear of failure and I’m grateful for the chance to have pursued a dream…"

Sportsbooks such as PointsBet, DraftKings and BetRivers had posted Tebow player prop bets ahead of the upcoming season.

At PointsBet, all wagers would be void because the former Mets minor leaguer never took a regular season snap.

Tebow had odds at the sportsbook for receiving yards and receiving touchdown totals.

His receiving yards total was 12.5, with an over at +125 and an under at -160 as of earlier this year at PointsBet.

Tebow's receiving touchdown total was at 0.5. The over opened in May at +350 with the under at -500, but sharp action moved that line down to an over at +225 and an under of -304.

DraftKings, too, had Tebow odds up for receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.

His receiving yard total at 12.5 had -112 odds for both the over and under as of earlier this month.

Meanwhile, his receiving touchdown total at 0.5 had an over of +400 and an under of -304.

A representative from DraftKings, Stephen Miraglia, said the possibility that Tebow would be released was priced into the market. Therefore, all wagers placed on Tebow player props will remain valid.

The sportsbook also had futures odds on Tebow to catch a passing touchdown from Trevor Lawrence; Tebow to have one or more receiving touchdowns; Tebow to record one or more rushing touchdowns; and Tebow to pass for one or more touchdowns.

BetRivers had released similar futures odds in May.

That sportsbook had its receiving yard total at 12.5 with an over and under at -112. Its receiving touchdown total at 0.5 had an over at +500 and an under at -770.

Representatives from BetRivers did not immediately confirm whether futures bets made on Tebow props would be valid or void.
