Tyreek Hill is still solidly the favorite for Offensive Player of the Year despite slipping his pace toward the single season receiving yard record.
Hill is still on pace for 2,016 receiving yards, which would be a record. But he's no longer on pace for the 16 game record set by Calvin Johnson of 1,964 yards in 16 games in 2012. The NFL has since, of course, extended seasons by a game, leaving many records in jeopardy and at risk of asterisks.
Still, Hill could eclipse 1,964 receiving yards by putting up an average of 141 yards in his next three games. If he does so, he's catapulted back into the MVP conversation — a market he slipped in after Monday Night Football vs. the Titans.
In that game, Hill was forced to leave the game in the first quarter due to an ankle injury. It's one of many ailments that Hill has encountered this season, but the mercurial wide receiver has pushed through at every turn.
But, this one was a stingy one. While Hill returned in the third quarter — and was relatively productive, putting up 61 yards on four catches — it wasn't enough to save the Dolphins, whose loss to the lowly Titans jeopardizes their position as the AFC East leaders.
Yet, Hill is the soldified frontrunner for Offensive Player of the Year, according to odds at FanDuel. Hill is -200, odds that were slightly worse than his mark last week of -250. Christian McCaffrey is the only major player hot on his tail at +150 odds.
