Five weeks into the NFL season, the MVP race is as wide open as ever.
The defending MVP, Patrick Mahomes, is currently the favorite to take the trophy once again at +350 at BetMGM.
But there are plenty of quarterbacks who are close behind Mahomes in the MVP race.
Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa had the best start to the season as he spent a couple of weeks as the favorite to win MVP but is now behind Mahomes at +500 at BetMGM.
Josh Allen and Jalen Hurts are next at +600 to win MVP at BetMGM as Allen and the Bills handed the Dolphins their only loss of the season while Hurts and the Eagles are undefeated.
The most surprising candidate is right behind them, and his stock is quickly rising. Brock Purdy has played perfect football as he's led the 49ers to a 5-0 record. The Iowa State product has thrown for 1,271 yards, nine touchdowns and has yet to throw an interception. Purdy leads the NFL in ESPN QBR at 83.7 and passer rating at 123.1.
Purdy is now +700 to win MVP after opening at +2500. He was +1800 just last week at BetMGM.
Purdy threw for four touchdowns in a 42-10 win over the Cowboys on Sunday Night Football to shoot him up the odds board.
