Eight weeks into the NFL season, the race for NFL MVP is wide open.

Kansas City's Patrick Mahomes is still the favorite to win MVP but his lead is not very comfortable. Mahomes failed to put up a touchdown in his latest outing against the Denver Broncos. Reports suggested that Mahomes had been dealing with the flu and temperatures in Denver were below 30 degrees.

Miami's Tua Tagovailoa and Philadelphia's Jalen Hurts are close behind Mahomes to win MVP at +350 odds at BetMGM.

Mahomes and Tagovailoa have been neck and neck to win the MVP for most of the season. Hurts had been lurking but he never jumped into that tier until now. After a four-touchdown performance against the Commanders this past weekend, Hurts is now in the same conversation as Mahomes and Tagovailoa.

Tagovailoa had another brilliant performance as he threw for 324 yards, three touchdowns and one interception against the New England Patriots on Sunday.

Josh Allen, who held the top spot five weeks ago, is fifth in odds at +1300 after struggling in some primetime games.

Baltimore's Lamar Jackson has jumped up to fourth in odds at +600 at BetMGM. Brock Purdy was making a climb up the odds board but he has fallen down to +3000 after struggling over the past couple of weeks.

Tagovailoa has had the most impressive season to this point and Mahomes will always be up there. But anyone could still enter the MVP conversation if they manage to string together a couple of great weeks.
