Six weeks into the NFL season, the race for NFL MVP is wide open.
Kansas City's Patrick Mahomes and Miami's Tua Tagovailoa are now co-favorites to win MVP at +350 odds at BetMGM.
The quarterbacks who have spent much of the season swapping positions in the top two are now tied at No. 1.
Mahomes was the favorite heading into Week 6, but he struggled a bit against a porous Denver Broncos defense in a 19-8 Chiefs victory last Thursday night.
Tagovailoa had another brilliant performance as he threw for 262 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.
Josh Allen, who held the top spot three weeks ago, is third at +700 despite struggling against the Giants on Sunday night. And Jalen Hurts (+800), who threw three picks in a loss to the New York Jets, fell to fourth.
The most surprising candidate is right behind Hurts, and his stock has been rapidly rising. Brock Purdy has played perfect football as he's led the San Francisco 49ers to a 5-1 record. Coming off a loss and the worst performance of his young career, Purdy still leads the NFL in QBR (77.0) and passer rating (111.9).
The 49ers quarterback is now +1000 to win MVP after opening at +2500.
Tagovailoa has had the most impressive season to this point and Mahomes will always be up there. But anyone could still win the MVP with a couple of great weeks.
