Vikings vs. Eagles
One of the things to emerge from the Eagles’ Super Bowl run last year was the importance of Smith to their offense. Smith isn’t just the Robin to A.J. Brown’s Batman — he’s a legit WR1 himself.
In Week 1, Smith and Brown were level in both targets (10) and receptions (seven). Brown was able to rack up more yardage (79 vs. 47), but it was Smith who got the touchdown.
Smith’s reception line is at 5.5 and this is an over I like considering he's going to get a minimum of around seven targets all season.
Pick: DeVonta Smith Over 5.5 Receptions (+120; BetMGM)
Vikings vs. Eagles
I have two prop picks for Hockenson in this game.
The Vikings are coming off a shocking Week 1 loss to the Buccaneers, but something that stood out is that Hockenson continues to rack up a bunch of targets. He was second on the team with nine, trailing only Justin Jefferson’s 12. Rookie Jordan Addison and K.J. Osborn trailed with six targets apiece.
Low key, there are a number of mouths to feed in Minnesota's offense, but as Gilles Gallant notes, Hockenson has averaged 8.8 targets per contest in his vikings career (12 games, postseason included).
Take him to clear 4.5 receptions. I’d still play this if the line rises to 5.5.
Pick: T.J. Hockenson Over 4.5 Receptions (-166; DraftKings)
Vikings vs. Eagles
Playing off my bet on Hockenson’s receptions, I also like his over for receiving yards.
He only managed 35 yards against the Bucs, but I expect him to bounce back in Philly.
Hockenson topped 49.5 yards four times in the Vikings’ final six games last season, which included two blowup games in which he surpassed 100 yards.
