Thirty other teams are probably cussing out the Buffalo Bills right now for allowing the Kansas City Chiefs to trade up with them to draft Xavier Worthy.

That speed element was perhaps the only thing missing from the Chiefs' offense after they traded Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins in 2022. They had only four scores of at least 20 yards or more in all of 2023, which was tied for the second-fewest in the league.

It’s a bit too much to call Worthy "Hill 2.0," but the rookie who set a new Combine record with a 4.21 40-yard dash showed that at the bare minimum, he’s bringing that element back to the Chiefs. That’s how dynamic his debut was as he scored a pair of touchdowns over 20 yards – first a 21-yard run on his first touch as a pro and then a 35-yard catch in the fourth quarter that proved to be the game-winner.

Worthy finished his first career game with two catches for 47 yards, one run for 21 and those pair of touchdowns. His Offensive Rookie of the Year odds skyrocketed as a result. They were as high as +2000 entering the game but are now +1200 according to DraftKings. He leapfrogged Malik Nabers (+1400) to enter the top five behind only Caleb Williams (+135), Jayden Daniels (+450), Marvin Harrison Jr. (+650) and Bo Nix (+1000).

There are still 16 games remaining this year, but if Worthy somehow ends up winning the award, he’d become the third wide receiver in four years to take it home.  Ja’Marr Chase won it in 2021 after catching 81 passes for 1,455 yards and 13 touchdowns while Garrett Wilson captured it in 2022 after hauling in 83 passes for 1,103 yards and four TDs.
