On Saturday, Olympic men's basketball group play concluded and matchups for the quarterfinals were set.

With two days off, the 2024 Olympic Games men's basketball teams will get the chance to recharge as their quest to medal continues.

Two players that I'll be looking to back are Bogdan Bogdanovic and Victor Wembanyama.

Meanwhile, Germany will look to slow down Giannis Antetokounmpo to advance to the semifinals.

Here's Olympic men's basketball props for August 6.

Alex Hinton's Olympics Men's Basketball Player Prop Bets: Tuesday, August 6

  • Giannis Antetokounmpo Under 28.5 Points (-115)
  • Bogdan Bogdanovic Over 17.5 Points (+100)
  • Victor Wembanyama Over 19.5 Points (+115)

Greece vs. Germany Player Prop

My Prop Bet #1: Fade Giannis (Under 28.5 Points)

Giannis Antetokounmpo Under 28.5 Points (-115)

Greece vs. Germany | 5 a.m., Peacock

If you're an NBA fan and/or bettor, it may be uncomfortable fading one of the superstars playing in the Olympics, particularly when they're not playing limited minutes like the stars on Team USA.

However, Giannis Antetokounmpo averaged 27 points per game in Greece's three Group A games. If you include the Olympic Qualifying Tournament and a preliminary game, Antetokounmpo is averaging 23.7 points in his last seven games for Greece. He's gone under this line in five of those games.

Against Germany, Antetokounmpo will see a roster featuring Franz Wagner, Isaac Bonga, Johannes Voigtmann, Johannes Thiemann, Daniel Theis and Moritz Wagner, who are all 6-foot-8 or taller.

Germany has held its opponents to 73.7 points per game and 40.5% shooting from the field in Group B play. It also held the United States under 100 points in the preliminary matchup.

Meanwhile, Greece is 11th in the Olympics at 77.7 points per game and Antetokounmpo is averaging about 35% of its points.

Knowing that, I expect Germany to load up on Antetokounmpo and force his teammates to beat them. We've already seen a few teams "form the wall" on Antetokounmpo to keep him out of the paint. Against Australia, he finished with 20 points and six assists.

Additionally, Antetokounmpo's line with Damian Lillard on the floor is usually in the neighborhood of 28.5 points with the Bucks. However, that's for a 48-minute game.

Here, they're essentially asking him to score 30 points in a 40-minute game (likely around 33 for him), and he's facing Germany's defense. If he does, I'll tip my cap to him.

Serbia vs. Australia Player Prop

My Prop Bet #2: Big Game From Bogdanovic (17.5 Points)?

Bogdan Bogdanovic Over 17.5 Points (+100)

Serbia vs. Australia | 8:30 a.m., USA

In Serbia's first two Group C games, Bogdan Bogdanovic was solid, as he scored 14 points against the United States, 13 points against Puerto Rico, shot 43% from the field overall and made three triples.

However, it was against South Sudan where he exploded. On Saturday, Bogdanovic scored 30 points on 10-for-14 from the field and 6-for-9 from behind the arc.

Against Australia, Bogdanovic should regress a bit from Saturday's game, but he should still clear this line with ease.

Playing for the Hawks, Bogdanovic is one of my favorite players to back for points and 3s props because volume usually isn't an issue with him. In 30 minutes or less per game, Bogdanovic typically gets up double digits in field goal attempts.

With Serbia, he's averaging 11.4 field goal attempts per game and three free throw attempts in his last five games.

If Serbia hopes to advance, it'll need Bogdanovic to score as the second option behind Nikola Jokic. However, being the playmaker that he is, Jokic will be looking to set him up as well.

Bogdanovic has averaged 19 points or more in the last four tournaments he's played in for Serbia. He can clear this line with 19 points against Australia.

If he repeats Saturday's performance, you can also back him for 25 points at +500 and 30 points at +1600.

France vs. Canada Player Prop

My Prop Bet #3: Will Wembanyama Go Over 19.5 Points?

Victor Wembanyama Over 19.5 Points (+115)

France vs. Canada | 12 p.m., Peacock

Of Antetokounmpo's aforementioned last seven games, one of the two 30-point games that he had came against Canada. The Canadians entered the Olympics with a guard- and forward-heavy roster and committed to playing five out with one of Dwight Powell, Kelly Olynyk and Trey Lyles at center.

Canada was able to get through the "Group of Death" undefeated with the strategy, but it's been vulnerable defending the paint.

Now, Victor Wembanyama has yet to score 20 points in the Olympics, and as a whole, his team has been underwhelming. However, the misses have been close with 19 and 18 points in two games, as well as 17 in a preliminary game.

If Wembanyama commits to scoring inside more against Canada, he should be able to use his height to his advantage in this matchup.

He'll still likely get up several 3s as well and he's made two 3s or more in five of his last seven games. A pair of triples will put him about a third of the way to this line in a game that he'll likely play 30 minutes or more barring foul trouble.

If Wembanyama has his first dominant game of the Olympics, you can also back him for 25 points at +350 points and 30 points at +1100.

As 7.5-point underdogs, a performance like that may be necessary to keep France's medal chances alive.
