Just two days after surviving an assassination attempt and seeing his chances to win the 2024 presidential election skyrocket, former President Donald Trump has selected his running mate: Ohio Senator JD Vance.

The announcement came during the first day of the 2024 Republican National Convention on Monday, where Trump was officially named the Republican nominee for president for the 2024 election. And with the Republican ticket set for November, Trump is far, far out ahead of Joe Biden in the most recent presidential election predictions.

Donald Trump Odds for President

With JD Vance named as his vice-presidential running mate, former president Donald Trump is a -400 favorite to win the electoral college in the latest 2024 presidential election odds. Trump's -400 odds equal a 64.25% chance of re-claiming the White House.

Trump had been -225 with a 57.24% chance of victory before Saturday's shooting. After that tragic event, his odds climbed significantly to their current -400.

At -400, Trump is the biggest favorite to win a presidential election since Trump himself was a -500 or longer favorite on the eve of the 2020 presidential election four years ago.

JD Vance Odds to Be Vice Presidential Nominee

While vice-presidential nominee odds had been off the board at BetMGM for several months, JD Vance was +200 to be Trump's running mate at several sportsbooks prior to Monday's announcement.

Joe Biden Odds for President

President Joe Biden currently has +400 odds of winning reelection. Biden's +400 election odds imply a 16.06% chance of Biden winning the 270 electoral votes necessary.

Biden is probably more likely to win the 2024 election than his current odds imply, as the market is still allowing for the chance that Biden steps aside as the Democratic nominee, despite his insistence that he is staying in the race. Kamala Harris currently has +1000 odds to win the 2024 presidential election, while Gavin Newsom and Michelle Obama are behind Harris at +2000.

Those three combine for an approximately 15% chance to win the election, odds that will likely shift toward Biden as we get closer to November, assuming he does not drop out.
