We are now 20 weeks away from the 2024 presidential election. You read that right — in just 140 days, American voters will go to the polls to determine whether former president Donald Trump or incumbent Joe Biden will return to the White House.
As we get ever closer to the 2024 election on Nov. 5, there's some good news for Trump. After a guilty verdict in his hush-money trial led to his lead in the 2024 presidential election odds narrowing to the slimmest it's been in months, Trump's chances to win this fall are once again getting even better.
With just 20 weeks to go before the election, Donald Trump is the clear favorite to win the 2024 presidential election. Trump's latest presidential election odds are -137, predicting a 52.78% chance of victory. Joe Biden's odds to win the election are currently +163, a 34.78% chance to win.
That gap between Trump and Biden had closed to just over 10% a couple weeks ago after the guilty verdict, with Trump's odds at the time dropping below 50% for the first time in 2024.
It would appear that some of the shock of a former president being found guilty of felony crimes for the first time in American history has worn off, however, as Trump's odds have bounced back over 50% in the interim. It's worth noting that his odds to win are not as good now as they were prior to the verdict, when Trump was a -150 favorite.
Speaking of favorites taking care of business, President Biden took to Twitter on Monday night to congratulate the Boston Celtics on their 2023-24 NBA championship.
Congrats @celtics, the 2023-2024 NBA Champions and now the all-time NBA leader with 18 titles.
A true legacy of excellence. https://t.co/WLts3VNeAT
— President Biden (@POTUS) June 18, 2024
The Celtics, unsurprisingly, are the favorites to repeat in the opening 2024-25 NBA title odds. Biden can only hope that between now and November, he's able to make up enough ground to pull off a victory of his own.
