The 2019 Copa America begins on June 14th. It is the 46th edition of the tournament and features 12 teams, 10 from South America plus Japan and Qatar.
Those 12 teams were drawn into three groups on January 24th, and the eight best clubs will advance to the quarterfinal stage.
Through 45 Copa America tournaments, only eight different national teams have won the title. Uruguay have the most with 15, followed by Argentina (14) and Brazil (8).
Chile, Paraguary and Peru are next with two titles apiece while Colombia and Bolivia have one each. Ecuador and Venezuela are both looking for their first ever Copa America trophy but are both big underdogs in2019.
2019 Copa America – Group A Odds
Brazil opened as heavy -700 favorites to top Group A but upon the news of Neymar being OUT for the Copa America, they've dropped down to -500.
I already backed Peru at 25-1 to win the title a while ago and will be dabbling a little on them to top Group A, too.
The opening matches will be Brazil-Bolivia on Friday, June 14th at 8:30 p.m. ET and Peru-Venezuela on Saturday at 3 p.m. ET.
2019 Copa America – Group B Odds
Argentina are the clear -150 favorites to win Group B but public bettors are eyeing Colombia to pull the upset. Nearly half of all tickets to win the group has come in on Colombia and they're a trendy underdog I'd avoid.
I don't expect Paraguay or Qatar to surprise anyone so the bet here is Argentina -150 or nothing.
The opening group matches are set for Saturday, June 15th at 6 p.m. ET (Argentina-Colombia) and Sunday at 3 p.m. ET (Paraguay-Qatar).
2019 Copa America – Group C Odds
Uruguay are the +110 favorites to secure first place in Group C but I'd be more interested in betting Ecuador at +500 odds. They've also been largely ignored by casual bettors which makes them an intriguing contrarian side to support.
Chile (+180) used to a sharp wager in previous Copa Americas but I'm foreseeing a letdown in 2019 as the roster has aged.
Group C action kicks off Sunday, June 16th at 6 p.m. ET between Uruguay and Ecuador, followed by Chile-Japan on Monday at 7 p.m. ET.
