Let's get to our Argentina vs Colombia prediction based on the latest Copa America 2024 Argentina vs Colombia odds for Sunday.
Copa America 2024 Props: Argentina vs Colombia Picks
Over 2.5 Goals
Leboff: We have just an absolute carnival of a 2024 Copa America final to dive into here, as Argentina and Colombia play for the trophy in Miami. It's going to be crazy; this whole tournament has been nuts.
Argentina's superpower is keeping games on script in between the error bars. But it's going to be really hard to do that against this Colombia team.
Just like we saw with the Colombia match against Uruguay — given the atmosphere we're expecting, the emotion at play and the pressure on these two teams — I think this thing goes off the rails, so I like over 2.5 goals. The Uruguay match should have gone over, especially with the way that Colombia missed two sitters.
Then there's the emotion. I don't think it's going to get that crazy, right? This is a final; you'd expect things to be a little bit more buttoned up.
But one event — whether that's a goal, a little fracas or donnybrook — between these two sides, who have no love lost between them, could mean we start seeing cards and things get wild.
Argentina dismissed Colombia on penalties in the 2021 Copa semis. I remember that because Lionel Messi was really given stick to the Colombian players during the penalties. Every time they missed, he would make fun of them.
So, there's going to be a lot going on here, and I think that leads to obviously more scoring opportunities and more … situations on the pitch.
Lautaro Martinez Over 2.5 Shots
Cunningham: Martinez is getting over four shots per 90 minutes this tournament. Messi has been Argentina's highest shot-gunner, but he's clearly been carrying some type of injury throughout this tournament, so he could be used a little bit more as a decoy.
And as we've seen with Argentina many times when they're struggling to play through whatever it might be, Messi will always be the one who drops deep to help and build up because he's incredible at everything.
But also, Messi coming out brings a center back or a defensive midfielder with him, which creates a lot of openings and opportunities. That's where Lautaro Martinez has gotten a lot of his options and shots, as he has scored four goals for Argentina so far this tournament.
Both Teams to Receive a Red Card
Leboff: This prop came off the board since we recorded on Thursday, but it's worth a look if you can find it.
This same prop was +3300 for Uruguay vs. Colombia. I think it might come down a little bit if folks were paying attention to that one, so the odds are something we'll have to look at as well.
I think this Copa America final will be a card fest, especially if one team goes up 2-0 and it looks over.
That Uruguay-Colombia prop was an unlucky loser. We got a red card in the 45th minute, and there probably could have been one earlier on Davinson Sanchez. Then there was a fight, as Darwin Nunez went into the stands.
It's a little bit of a cliche to talk about Copa America in this way, but it's because of what happens at this tournament every time. It's an absolute carnival. It's so much fun to watch, especially when we get to the final stages.
