Barcelona Prediction

Tuesday's 3-1 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final was the first Barcelona suffered in 2025, highlighting the strong form Hansi Flick’s side has shown lately.

The Blaugranas are on a roll, scoring 84 goals after 31 league games, and could claim a seven-point lead over El Clásico rivals Real Madrid in the La Liga standings with a win. Already in the Copa del Rey final and Champions League semifinals, the treble is very much an attainable goal for Flick's team.

The biggest news for Barcelona is the injury of left-back Alejandro Balde, who was subbed off in the first half against Leganés and missed the game against Dortmund. Medical reports have confirmed a tear in his left thigh, meaning he won't be back for the game and may even miss the Copa del Rey final on April 26.

That's particularly bad news for Barcelona, given how poor his natural replacement, Gerard Martin, was against Dortmund.

Balde joins Dani Olmo (muscle), Marc Casado (LCL), Marc Bernal (ACL) and Marc-Andre ter Stegen (Patella) as confirmed out.

Celta Vigo Prediction

Seventh-placed Celta de Vigo still has a lot to play for in this season's La Liga. The Galician outfit is just five points behind Real Betis in the race for European spots, where they aim to secure their return to the continental stage for the first time since the 2016-17 season.

The team coached by Claudio Giráldez arrives at the clash having lost just one of their nine games, a 2-0 defeat at home to Espanyol in their last outing. Still, they managed to win five of those, including a crucial win against Betis, and even held Atlético Madrid to a 1-1 tie away from home.

They have reason to be optimistic ahead of the clash against Barcelona, whom they held to a 2-2 tie in Vigo in November. They're also the team that has picked up the most points against the Blaugrana in their 2017-18 season — excluding Real Madrid — with three wins and five draws in 15 games.

Hugo Álvarez (knee) and Carl Starfelt (muscle) are the only two players not available for Giráldez ahead of the clash.

Barcelona vs. Celta Vigo Pick

The loss against Dortmund could send a few on the wrong track, particularly as Barcelona was thoroughly outplayed at the Signal Iduna Park. But it's also worth remembering they were never at risk of elimination after their 4-0 win at home in the first leg, so a modicum of relaxation was to be expected.

There's no room for such peace of mind in the league, particularly now that Real Madrid are out of Europe and probably aiming to spoil the Blaugrana's party.

Celta Vigo are a solid, entertaining team, but Barça are one of the best teams of the season. Even if Balde's injury takes a bit of their edge defensively, the attacking trio of Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha should be enough to overpower the Galicians.
