Barcelona Prediction
Barcelona comes into this match in great form, having thumped Borussia Dortmund 4-0 in the Champions League last Wednesday. Yet, their visit to the Spanish capital could be seen as a "must-win" game.
Real Betis held them to a 1-1 draw in their last league outing, ending a nine-game LaLiga winning run. The Blaugranas are just four points off second-place Real Madrid and surely won't want to play too fast and loose with that advantage as we come to the final stretch of the season.
Barcelona will have a lot to pay for in the coming days. Hansi Flick's side is on for a treble as league leaders, Champions League quarter-finalists, and Copa del Rey finalists, so any missed chance could start a slippery slope. Still, they've been supreme this season, scoring an incredible 83 goals in 30 league matches.
Star striker Robert Lewandowski could be rested on Saturday, making room for Ferran Torres as the front man. Lamine Yamal had an injury scare against Dortmund and will be rested despite Flick confirming he's fit.
Dani Olmo (muscle), Marc Casado (LCL), Marc Bernal (ACL) and Marc-Andre ter Stegen (Patella) are all out.
Leganes Prediction
Relegation candidates Leganes are fighting for their lives. They are currently two points behind 17th-placed Alaves in the last non-relegation spot.
Their 1-1 draw with Osasuna on Monday ended their three-game losing streak, but it's been over a month since their last win, a 1-0 triumph over Getafe in March. The reigning Segunda Division champions scored only 18 points from their 15 home league matches during the 2024-25 campaign.
Still, they've already beaten Barcelona. Their 1-0 win in December at Barcelona's temporary home of the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys. Should El Lega win again, they'd become only the fifth newly promoted side to beat Barcelona in both La Liga meetings in a season, after Sevilla (1934/35), Hércules (1996/97), UD Salamanca (1997/98), and Rayo Vallecano (2021/22).
Head coach Borja Jimenez has plenty of options for his starting eleven. Only Enric Franquesa and Borna Barisic are out, both with ACL injuries.
Barcelona vs. Leganes Pick
While it'll be interesting to see how Barcelona will manage without Lamine Yamal and Lewandowski, they should have plenty of options to wrap this one up, even if it's not a full-strength lineup.
Flick's Barcelona may not be as imposing as any of Guardiola's teams or as effective as Luis Enrique's MSN sides, but they're still on the verge of greatness. Their current run of 11 La Liga matches unbeaten is their longest unbeaten run in a single season in the league since a 13-game spell under Xavi Hernández. The treble is not a wild dream; it's within their grasp.
Leganes will go in confident that they have already beaten this team and will sell their defeat at a high cost, but I don't envision them becoming the stumbling block that ruins it for Barcelona.
Barcelona vs. Leganes Pick: Barcelona to Win, Over 3.5 Goals.
