Borussia Dortmund hosts Beşiktaş to wrap up the final day of matches in Group C in Tuesday's Champions League action.
The group is all but wrapped up, with the German club headed to the Europa League knockout stage with a third-place finish and its Turkish counterpart already eliminated from European competition.
Dortmund took all three points in the first meeting between the two teams back in September, which included two first-half goals from BVB in a 2-1 victory.
In its last nine games against Turkish opposition, Dortmund has only lost once (seven wins, one draw), and it will be looking to continue that trend in this consolation match.
Dortmund Riding Roller Coaster of Form
Dortmund has had an up and down season so far due to star striker Erling Haaland missing multiple games in all competitions.
Manager Marco Rose’s team comes into this match in second place in the Bundesliga following a 3-2 loss to Bayern Munich this past weekend.
In the five UCL games it has played in this campaign, Dortmund has posted 1.42 expected goals and a -0.2 xG difference, according to fbref.com.
The German club did win the xG battle in the first meeting between the two sides in opening fixture, ending the match with 2.5 expected goals compared to 0.9 for Beşiktaş.
Haaland leads the team with 11 goals to go with four assists in the German top flight this season, followed by Marco Reus with four goals and five assists.
Beşiktaş Struggling to Find Any Success
Nothing has gone right for Beşiktaş this season in the Champions League as it has lost all five matches with a goal difference of -11 overall.
The advanced metrics have not looked any better, as the Turkish club owns a -9.5 expected goals difference on 2.96 xG allowed per match.
Form in its domestic league also hasn’t been great as manager Sergen Yalçın’s squad ranks ninth in the Süper Lig with six wins and six losses.
You have to go all the way back to the October 25th win over Galatasaray to find the last victory for Beşiktaş in all competitions, spanning back eight matches.
Canadian attacker Cyle Larin paces the squad with five goals, followed by Chelsea loanee Michy Batshuayi, who has four this season.
Betting Analysis & Pick
When you look at the betting odds at DraftKings, Dortmund comes into the match as the big -390 favorite on the moneyline. The total is set at 3.5.
I do see goals in this match in a win for the home side, which is why my best bet is a Same Game Parlay of Both Teams to Score and a Dortmund win at +105 odds.
If you look at its full schedule, Beşiktaş has not kept a clean sheet in all competitions since Sept. 11 (17 matches), which includes giving up a goal in all of its Champions League games.
The Both Teams To Score bet has cashed in the last six in all competitions for Dortmund and in three of five games in the European competition. It has also hit in 16-of-22 total games this season.
Another key metric that leads me to think goals are going to happen in this match is the combined xG in matches for both clubs in UCL play. Games with Beşiktaş have averaged 4.02 xG, while Dortmund’s matches have had a 2.88 combined expected goals per game.
The number is too big to back the German giants on the spread or moneyline, but this parlay is a clever way to back them in this match.
Pick: Same Game Parlay — Dortmund to Win & Both Teams To Score (+105)
