Crystal Palace welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to Selhurst Park on Tuesday for a match between two sides in the bottom half of the table.
The hosts have played one of the more difficult schedules in the Premier League this season, entering the game in 13th on 10 points.
Meanwhile, Wolves picked up their second win of the campaign over the weekend, pushing the visitors out of the relegation zone to 17th in the table.
It has been a rough start to the season, but I do expect the Eagles to start flying with a victory in this one.
Crystal Palace
Palace were a popular bet coming into the year to finish in the Top 10 or higher in the futures market, but things have not gone to plan. The club has only secured two wins through the first nine fixtures.
However, most of the struggles can also come down to the very hard schedule. The Eagles have already played Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea and Newcastle, which has to rank as one of the more difficult opening fixtures in the EPL.
This is one of the main reasons manager Patrick Vieira’s side is towards the bottom of the league in xGDiff (-3.9), big scoring chances allowed (24) and expected goals surrendered (13.6), according to fbref.com.
Palace are still a tough team to beat at home, which should be aided by not having to travel for this midweek match.
Wolves
Wolves picked up a huge victory this past weekend at home against Nottingham Forest, stopping a run of three straight defeats.
It was also the first time the team found the back of the net in three matches, which has been a common theme this campaign.
On the season, Wolves are toward the bottom of the English top flight in multiple attacking categories, including xG (9.2), shots on target per match (2.7) and goals per shot (0.03).
This is also the same side that only has four goals through 10 games and just one of those came away from home.
Betting Analysis & Pick
When I look at the betting board for this match, Palace are listed as the home favorite at +120 odds on the moneyline to go with a total of 2.5 goals.
I’m not going to overthink this one. So, my best bet is to back the Eagles to win the midweek match on the moneyline.
Yes, it has been a difficult early-season schedule, but look at how Vieira’s side has fared against the smaller teams at home. Palace beat Aston Villa and Leeds United and earned a draw against Brentford.
In those games, the Eagles finished with a +1.6 xGDiff and created eight big scoring chances. This should be another opportunity for Wilfried Zaha and Eberechi Eze to flourish in front of the home crowd.
If you wanted a bigger payout, you could look in the Single Game Parlay market to tie in the Palace victory with the total falling under 3.5 or 4.5 goals.
I’m just going to keep it simple and back the home team at a nice plus price.
The Pick: Crystal Palace ML (+120)
