Thomas Tuchel’s tenure as England’s head coach began on a winning note, and he’ll aim to keep that momentum going when his team faces Latvia in London. With the nerves of his debut now behind him, Tuchel will look to further shape England’s playing style and refine his squad selection.
Although the opponent may seem weak on paper, a clash in the 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign always demands full focus. Kickoff at Wembley Stadium is set for Monday, March 24, at 3:45 p.m. ET.
Here is my England vs. Latvia prediction and odds for the World Cup Qualifiers.

I am backing Over 3.5 goals and Kane to score in the England vs. Latvia match.

England Prediction
The 2-0 victory over Albania had plenty of positives, such as England’s constant pursuit of ball control and its dominance over the opponent. Myles Lewis-Skelly’s goal in his first national team appearance, Dan Burn’s defensive solidity, and Harry Kane’s ever-present scoring instinct were among the highlights.
Tuchel also reintroduced Reece James, Marcus Rashford, and Jordan Henderson—all of whom had been absent from the national team in recent months—giving them valuable minutes on the pitch. If there was one drawback, it was England’s lack of clinical finishing, which prevented a bigger winning margin.
The only confirmed absence is Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon, who suffered a hip injury after coming off the bench against Albania. That means either Morgan Gibbs-White (Nottingham Forest) or Jarell Quansah (Liverpool)—both of whom were left out of Friday’s squad—could be called up.

Latvia Prediction
Latvia also kicked off its 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign with a win, edging out Andorra 1-0 on the road thanks to a Dario Sits goal. However, considering Andorra is one of Europe’s weakest national teams, that result isn't necessarily a testament to Latvia’s strength.
They arrive at Wembley as clear underdogs. Latvia’s most significant achievement in international football was qualifying for Euro 2004, and their current squad lacks star power—most of their players compete in their domestic league or in lower-tier European competitions. For instance, their starting striker, Vladislavs Gutkovskis, plays in South Korea’s K League.
With no major injuries ahead of the England match, manager Paolo Nicolato is expected to stick with most of his starters. Changes could come if he opts for a more defensive approach, hoping to strike on the counterattack.

England vs. Latvia Pick
Even if Tuchel rotates his squad to test different players, the gap between these two teams is massive. Additionally, any lineup changes are unlikely to disrupt England’s possession-heavy, attacking approach.
The Three Lions have everything in place for a dominant win, strengthening their position as Group K leaders and extending their perfect start under the German coach. However, with England’s moneyline set at -3500, this bet offers little to no value.
A smarter approach is to maximize returns with an SGP that includes over 3.5 total goals and a goal from Harry Kane, England’s most prolific scorer.
England vs. Latvia Pick: Over 3.5 goals and Harry Kane Anytime Scorer (-110, DraftKings)
