We are about two months into the domestic soccer season in Europe. As we begin to get an understanding of what the league races may look like, there is some valuable futures selections that are appealing to me across the board.
Below, read on for my expert soccer picks, featuring the Premier League, Bundesliga and Ligue 1, as I try to spot some well-priced futures for the rest of the season.
Here are my best bets.
Monaco to Win Ligue 1 (+300 via bet365)
Here is why I would bet on Monaco to win Ligue 1 this year. While PSG make for an easy pick every year, this season is different, as the Parisian club has been left dry of superstars and has entered a period of transition, leaving the door open to another team to take up their mantle. Monaco have had a great start to their campaign. In their second season with head coach Adi Hütter, Les Monégasques have built a fortress at the back, only conceding four goals in seven games, tied for least in the league. Still undefeated and alone in first place, Monaco have a strong claim to make.
While their attack has sometimes seemed limited to go all the way, American striker Folarin Balogun has found form, scoring in his last three league games. If he keeps this up, Monaco is heavily undervalued at +300.
Bradley Barcola Top Ligue 1 Scorer (+900 via bet365)
With PSG missing a talisman, Bradley Barcola has stepped up. The tricky winger is only 22, but he looks ready to become the main man for PSG. With six goals in seven games, he currently leads the goalscoring charts and I am predicting him to keep this up the whole season. At +900, it would be smart to invest early in Barcola.
Omar Marmoush Top Bundesliga Scorer (+1000 via bet365)
Following Harry Kane's monster season last year, finishing with 36 goals, I am surprisingly betting on someone else to finish top scorer. His name is Omar Marmoush, and the Egyptian playing for Frankfurt is off to an amazing start to the season, leading the Bundesliga in both goals and assists with eight and six respectively. We have seen these types of early bursts from player in Germany before (Guirassy last year), and I am expecting Marmoush to keep this up. At +1000, his odds are worth looking into. Bayern are much better than last year so far, meaning Kane will be less relied upon. This opens the door for a player such as Marmoush.
Cole Palmer to win Premier League Player of the Year (+500 via DraftKings)
After single-handedly carrying Chelsea to sixth place last season, the 22-year old looks ready to take the next step. With six goals and five assists so far, Palmer is eclipsing any doubts he was a one-season wonder. Chelsea are much better this season than last, and a higher placed finish would do wonders for Palmer's chances of being named Player of the Year. While he may not score four goals every game like he did against Brighton a few weeks back, I am backing Palmer to win the award. At +500, only Haaland has shorter odds, and I heavily doubt he will win the award this season, making Palmer my favorite.
