Things could be ultra electric Sunday when Leeds United welcomes perennial powerhouse Chelsea to Elland Road for their Premier League showdown.
The Peacocks enter this affair in a fine run of form out of the gate, picking up four points in two matches to kick off another season in the English top flight. They debuted wth a 2-1 home win against Wolverhampton before settling with a 2-2 road draw at Southampton last time out.
On the other side, the Blues squandered a lead against Tottenham deep in stoppage time last weekend to walk away with a 2-2 stalemate. Things got heated between manager Thomas Tuchel and counterpart Antonio Conte during the postgame handshake, which wrapped a perfect bow around the tightly contested clash between championship contenders.
Chelsea opened its season with a workmanlike 1-0 shutout against Everton at Goodison Park, thanks to a Jorginho penalty in the ninth minute of added time in the first half.
The Blues are a solid -175 moneyline favorites according to the latest FanDuel odds, but can the Peacocks surprise their counterparts with some home cooking? Let's take a look to see if we can find some betting value.
Leeds United
Manager Jesse Marsch has be pleased with his club's start, but probably feels like they should have two wins and six points in their account.
The Peacocks rallied from an early deficit against Wolves, highlighted by Rodrigo's 24th-minute equalizer before an own goal sealed all three points. And the talisman continued his hot beginning with a brace in last weekend's tie with Southampton.
Road points obviously go a long way in the English top flight, but Leeds was close to leaving St. Mary's Stadium with all three of them before the Saints scored two unanswered goals deep in the second half to steal a result.
United States internationals Tyler Adams and Brenden Aaronson have been solid in their two EPL appearances and will need to be on their game again facing fellow U.S. Men's National Team star Christian Pulisic and the visitors.
By The Numbers
- 2.1 — Expected goals created by Leeds in the draw with Southampton.
- 1.0 — Expected goals against the Peacocks allowed to the Saints.
Chelsea
Opening with that hard-fought victory against Everton was definitely a good way to commence the season, but Chelsea had to be disappointed with the tie against Spurs at Stamford Bridge.
I'm all over Tottenham when it comes to my futures bets (EPL champion and top-four finish), but Harry Kane and the crew should have lost that match in my humble opinion. Chelsea dominated possession (65-35% advantage) and held a 16-10 edge in total shots.

Former Manchester City standout Raheem Sterling is destined for a solid campaign as the new front man for the three-headed attack featuring Mason Mount and Kai Havertz on each flank in Tuchel's preferred 3-4-3 formation.
Yet, most importantly, Chelsea enter this meeting knowing it has owned the Leeds of late. The Blues earned 3-0 and 3-2 wins against the Peacocks last season, so they should be brimming with confidence stepping on the pitch.
By The Numbers
- 3.1 — Total xG created combined in the games against Everton and Tottenham.
- +0.73 — The Blues' xGDiff per 90 minutes, which is third best in league play.
Betting Analysis & Picks
I've made my affinity and love for Leeds well known, which means it's hard to leave bias out of any betting equation when it comes to the club. And if you throw in the fact this match is difficult to handicap due to the fact the Peacocks are capable of springing an upset, I'm staying away from a side.
Instead, the first wager I'm backing is the total clearing 2.75 goals via the Asian Handicap at -120 odds that DraftKings is offering. Four of the last five meetings between these outfits have finished with at least three goals, including the aforementioned results last season.
As for the other bet? I'm getting creative with a parlay pairing Manchester City covering a -1.75 spread on the Asian Handicap with the above Leeds/Chelsea total at +340 odds. I think manager Pep Guardiola's side is going to run roughshod over Newcastle in their Tyneside tussle, so I love the number we're getting on this two-leg ticket.
The Picks: Total Over 2.75 Goals (-120) | Parlay — Manchester City -1.75 & Leeds/Chelsea Total Over 2.75 Goals (+340)
