Lille and Juventus face off on Tuesday in the Champions League. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. ET on Paramount+ from the Pierre Mauroy Stadium in Lille.

Lille are unbeaten in their last eight matches in all competitions and have already earned a pair of historic UCL results with consecutive wins over both Madrid clubs.

Juventus are the lone unbeaten side remaining in Serie A, and like Lille, they also have six points from their first three continental fixtures.

Here is my Lille vs. Juventus prediction.

Lille vs. Juventus Champions League Preview

Canadian forward Jonathan David is clearly entering his prime, and Lille will be happy to benefit from the results so long as they can keep him.

The 24-year-old has already hit 10 goals for his club, with three of them coming in the Champions League. His best performance may have been his most recent UCL showing when he came off the bench to strike for a brace on just eight touches in Lille's win over Atleti.

He's probably due for a little bit of a regression, with his goals coming on 7.3 total xG. But it's some distance from fluky or lucky territory.

Meanwhile, Juventus is trying to get a handle on why its vaunted defense suddenly went south.

The Rossinieri had conceded only one goal over the entirety of their first seven matches while allowing opponents only 3.2 xG. Then came the next seven matches, in which they've allowed  11.8 xG (about 1.7 per 90 minutes) and conceded 10 times.

Perhaps fixture congestion is one of the culprits for a side that sold more players than it bought during the summer transfer window. And are injuries that have limited defender Geison Bremer to eight appearances in all competitions.

But it's also notable that the trend began with a 3-2 UCL win over RB Leipzig, innovators in the world of the high press. While the Bundesliga outfit lost, it created 3.3 xG and perhaps exposed a vulnerability for Juventus against teams that attack more vertically.

Juventus should gain some confidence from a much-needed clean sheet and a 2-0 win over Uniese this weekend. But the fact remains chances and expected goals have been far more abundant at the Champions League level.

While I think there might also be some value on the hosts in some form, the more certain play here is taking over 2.5 goals so long as it remains at plus money. It has cashed in three of these sides' six UCL games, and maybe more tellingly, the combined average xG from those contests is 3.3 per 90 minutes.
