Liverpool Prediction
Liverpool have been an unstoppable force in the Premier League this season. Unbeaten in 20 games across all competitions, Arne Slot's team has England by storm. Even when Chelsea narrowed their gap at the top of the league following the Reds' draws against Newcastle United and Fulham, they still have a game in hand to extend it to five points.
The start owes a lot to the efforts of forward Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian has scored or assisted in 22 of Liverpool’s 31 Premier League goals this season. With 13 goals and nine assists, he could become the first-ever player to hit double figures in both tallies before Christmas if he sets up one more.
It's not all about attack. The Reds have the best Premier League defensive record this season. They've conceded only 13 goals in 15 games. Stats say it isn't luck: their xGA is 14.9 per Opta, second only to Arsenal's.
Positive health updates for forwards Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa and defender Kostas Tsimikas mean Slot will have even more squad depth at his disposal when he visits Tottenham.
Tottenham Prediction
A slow start to the season has seen Tottenham fall to the "depths" of mid-table. Five points off the golden ticket to Europe, Ange Postecoglou's team is now just two games away from breaking a 17-year trophyless streak after beating Manchester United 4-3 in the EFL Cup quarterfinals.
Nine goals scored in the last two games sound like a lot until you consider five of those came against a Southampton side that looks set on becoming one of the worst relegated sides in EPL history. Still, they have the league's second-best scoring numbers, with 36, only bettered by Chelsea's 37.
It's at the back where Tottenham's woes start. A 24.3 xGA per Opta makes them a bottom-half team defensively, worse than relegation strugglers such as Crystal Palace (22.5) or Everton (20.3)
Injuries have been a problem for Postecoglou's team. They'll face Liverpool's firepower without Cristian Romero — expected to be out until 2025 — Micky Van de Ven, or Ben Davies at the back, and Destiny Udogie's return won't fill that gap.
Liverpool vs. Tottenham Prediction
While Tottenham is still riding high from their EFL Cup win, Liverpool's attack has been a handful for all but a few of the Premier League's sides this season. Add Tottenham's defensive woes and you have the perfect ingredients for a high-octane game.
History marks this as a high-scoring game, with both teams finding the net in 9 of the last 10 head-to-heads, with an average of 3.6 goals, and the circumstances make it even more so.
