During a full midweek slate in La Liga, Barcelona play Mallorca on the island Tuesday night, looking to continue the unbeaten start to the campaign.

Xavi’s team has rattled off five straight victories to enter this match at the top of the league table.

Meanwhile, the home side has not had the same luck, picking up just one win over the first six league fixtures.

This can be one of the more difficult trips in all of Spain to pick up a result, but I just feel the Spanish giant will be too much in this one.

Let's get into Mallorca vs Barcelona in Tuesday La Liga fixture.

How to Practice Responsible Gaming Habits

Mallorca

If you think about how Mallorca have been successful over the last couple of years, it has been a very stout defense that covers up a poor attack. However, the defensive numbers have not been good to start the season.

In fact, manager Javier Aguirre’s side has only earned two clean sheets in the opening six matches, allowing 1.53 xG per 90 minutes, according to fbref.com.

This is a big drop from the team that only gave up 0.93 expected goals per match last season, which was the best in La Liga.

The club made the island a fortress against the top sides in the 2022-23 campaign, but the defense needs to improve for this to happen again.

Barcelona

After opening with a goalless draw at Getafe, Xavi has guided the club to a promising defense of last season’s La Liga title.

The results are also backed up by very strong stats, especially the attacking numbers. Through six games, Barcelona lead the Spanish top flight in xG (13.9) and big chances (24), and they only trail Real Madrid in shots per match (16.5).

One key performer so far has been star striker Robert Lewandowski, who has five goals and three assists in the league.

The Polish forward had a great start last season as well, but he had a big dip in form in the back half of the campaign that he would like to avoid.

Pick & Prediction

For a Tuesday night match, this is a very tricky trip for the league leaders, and it keeps me away from any of the main prices on Barcelona. I do feel there’s better value backing Xavi’s side in another market.

So, I will be splitting my best bet into two plays, with half going on the visitors to win by exactly one goal at +260 odds. The other half will be on Barcelona to win by exactly two goals at +350.

If you look at the Catalon club's five league victories this season, this play would have cashed in four of those fixtures. Meanwhile, all three of Mallorca’s losses have come by exactly one or two goals.

I also do not trust Aguirre’s team like I did last year. When they have stepped up in class this season against Villarreal, Athletic Club and Girona, Mallorca have posted a -3 xGDiff.

Barcelona will be their toughest test yet, and I like the league champions to keep up the current winning streak.

Pick: 0.5U Barcelona to win by exactly 1 (+260) | 0.5U Barcelona to win by exactly 2 (+350)
