Closing out the opening weekend of the Premier League, I'll make a Manchester United vs Wolves pick at Old Trafford for Monday Night Football.
The Red Devils had a successful season last year under first-year coach Erik ten Hag, winning a trophy and qualifying for the Champions League.
Meanwhile, Wolves avoided relegation from the English top flight, but the disappointing summer was capped off with the last-minute change of manager before this opener.
These are the types of fixtures at home that United tend to flex their muscles, and I can see that happening again in this one to kick off a new season. Let's break down the Man United vs Wolves odds and break down a bet.
Man United
The Red Devils have splashed the cash this summer to bring in three key players, headlined by the signing of striker Rasmus Højlund from Atalanta for over $90 million.
However, the Danish goalscorer will miss the start of the campaign due to a minor back injury.
He is joined in attack by former Chelsea playmaker Mason Mount, while André Onana comes from Inter Milan to take over as goalkeeper.
With other top teams in the division getting stronger, ten Hag’s side needed to make moves to keep pace in what should be an excellent race for the top four.
Wolverhampton Wanderers
After complaining about the lack of budget for new signings, Julen Lopetegui left his post as Wolves manager just days before the season started.
He was replaced by former Bournemouth player and coach Gary O’Neil, who did a terrific job keeping the Cherries in the EPL last campaign.
O’Neil’s pragmatic style and experience at the bottom of the league could make this a great hire by the club, but you do have to worry about where the goals are coming from.
It also won’t help that key players Rúben Neves and Nathan Collins left the team this summer in big transfer deals.

Betting Pick & Prediction
As you can likely tell, I am looking to back the home side in this game, but I believe there is a more creative way to do so that presents better odds.
So, my best bet is to take Manchester United to Win to Nil at +110 odds via bet635, which is playable to -110. I also don’t hate the hosts to cover a spread of -1.5 or better.
This is really more of a fade of the Wolves’ attack that finished last in the Premier League in xG per 90 minutes (0.97) and big chances created per match (1.03) last season.
The numbers are even worse on the road at the top 10 sides in the 2022-23 campaign, where they averaged just 0.66 xG per game and failed to score in 6-of-10 matches.
Meanwhile, this same play was very profitable for the Red Devils at home against poor teams, cashing in 60% of fixtures against teams in the bottom half of the table. United also held a +16.7 xGDiff in those games.
Once you add in the turmoil of the summer and the change at manager last week, I think this will be a comfortable win to open the season for United.
