FC Dallas looks to get back on track at home Saturday when the Los Angeles Galaxy come to town for their Major League Soccer meeting.
The Texas host has failed to pick up a victory at Toyota Stadium in its last five attempts, dating back to May 7 of this season.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy ended a three-game skid last weekend with a win against Atlanta United. The California side enters this match seventh in the Western Conference standings.
This should be a great game between playoff teams, but I think the home side is in a perfect buy-low spot in this matchup.
FC Dallas
Through its first 11 matches, Dallas only had one loss. However, the club has followed that great start with just a pair of victories over the next 11 fixtures.
Manager Nico Estévez and his team did get a much-needed win last weekend at Real Salt Lake, which hopefully ends the worst run of their season.
Dallas is led by the dynamic duo of Jesus Ferreira and Paul Arriola, who have combined for 21 goals and seven assists on the campaign.
By The Numbers
- +8.1 — At home this season, Dallas owns this xGDiff, according to fbref.com.
- 0 — There isn't another team in MLS that has two players who have combined for as many goals as Ferreira and Arriola.
LA Galaxy
Which Los Angeles side shows up — the one that put four goals past Austin FC and Montréal or the club that yielded three goals in losses to Houston and San Jose Earthquakes — remains to be seen.
Manager Greg Vanney led his team to a solid victory at home against Atlanta last weekend. However, it came after a stretch of four losses in five matches leading up to it.
Los Angeles boasts a solid front pair as well, with Dejan Joveljić (nine goals) and Javier “Chicharito” Hernández (seven goals) having solid seasons.
By The Numbers
- 1.39 — The Galaxy have allowed this average of xG per road match, which is very close to the average given up over the last six matches (1.38) this season.
- 4 — Los Angeles' opponents have scored multiple goals in all but two fixtures in its last six contests overall.
Betting Analysis & Pick
Dallas has had a rough couple of months, but I think the oddsmakers have over-adjusted for this game. So, I'm backing the home team on the moneyline at +110 odds via BetMGM as my top selection.
I mentioned the recent struggles for the Galaxy on the defensive side, but this has been an issue stretching back even further. In its last 11 matches, Los Angeles has allowed 1.62 xG per 90 minutes and multiple goals six times.
Ferreira and Arriola found the scoresheet in a 3-1 victory in the first meeting, so they’ll like their chances of scoring again in this latest clash.
The Pick: FC Dallas ML (+110)
