After a weekend off due to the international break, La Liga is back in action with a full slate, starting with Friday night’s opener between Osasuna and Granada.
The hosts enter the weekend in 12th with nine of 10 points picked up this campaign away from home.
Meanwhile, the newly promoted side has struggled in the return to the Spanish top flight, recording just one win in nine games to sit in 19th.
Scoring is up across the league so far, and I believe we should get more goals to kick off match day 10.
Osasuna
The numbers do not look good at the El Sadar Stadium so far this season for Osasuna. However, this may just be down to the difficult set of opponents at home.
In the four home games, Jagoba Arrasate’s side has played Athletic Club, Barcelona, Sevilla and Atlético Madrid. This should be a big step down in class in this one.
In fact, Osasuna only have one goal in the four home matches, which came against the former league champion.
We have seen this side play well against the lesser opposition on the road, and I think we’ll start to see that carry over into the home form.
Granada
If you told Granada fans that the club would have 15 goals through nine fixtures in the summer, they would have taken it as a solid start in the return to La Liga.
This is also the same side that boasts one of the top scorers in the league in Bryan Zaragoza. With his five league goals, only Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham has more.
The problem is the fact that the defense has given up 23 goals, with only Almería giving up more so far this campaign.
The league newcomers are not going to be able to rely on outscoring everyone to stay in the division, but I do like the attacking numbers for now.
Osasuna vs Granada
Pick & Prediction
When I look at this match, the one part of this game that I want to fade is Granada’s defense, even with the offensive struggles at home for Osasuna.
So, my best bet is for the hosts to fly over their team total of 1.5 goals at -120.
At some point, Osasuna are going to find the back of the net at home. This is a side that has only scored one goal from 4.5 xG and five big chances, according to fbref.com.
Arrasate’s side is due some luck, especially considering the club has scored multiple goals in 5-of-6 away matches. The opposing teams in those fixtures are very similar to what Osasuna will be facing in this one.
As for Granada's defense, it is at the bottom of La Liga in multiple categories, including xG allowed per 90 minutes (2.18), big chances surrendered per game (3.67) and opponents’ shots on target per match (5.89).
Once you add in the fact that Granada have given up multiple goals in 7-of-9 league matches, this feels like the perfect spot for Osasuna to get going at home.
