France is looking to win their group with an emphatic statement win before potentially facing Germany in the Round of 16.

Panama, meanwhile, is still looking for their first World Cup point.

Read on for my analysis, as well as my pick and betting prediction, for Panama vs France.

Panama Seeking Surprise Outing

Panama is still in search of their first Women’s World Cup point. Their World Cup has gone pretty much as expected, with a 4-0 loss to Brazil and a 1-0 loss to Jamaica.

While half of the World Cup debutants have managed to leave with points, Vietnam and Haiti will leave without them. Panama could make that three. Brazil provided an offensive onslaught and France could do the same. Against Brazil, La Marea Roja allowed 33 shot attempts — nine on target. They also held just 25% possession. They were marginally better against Jamaica with an even four shots on target each. Panama also held possession 53% of the time.

Still, Allyson Swaby was too good for Panama to overcome. France has numerous offensive weapons, including Eugenie Le Sommer, Viviane Asseyi and Kadidiatou Diani, that could cause Panama trouble. Diani has yet to get going in this World Cup, but playing against Panama could change that.

Panama is largely outmatched in this one, but who knows, they could surprise.

France Can Capitalize on Group Situation

Wendie Renard is superwoman. Despite picking up an injury in their opener, and her status being up in the air, Renard was a surprise inclusion in France’s starting lineup, but still managed to send home the game winner in Les Bleues 2-1 win over Brazil.

But the scoreline showed just how evenly matched those teams were. France and Brazil were nearly even in possession (France prevailed with 54%), pass accuracy (France prevailed with 68%) and corners. Les Bleues also managed more shots and put up seven on target to Brazil’s two.

However, a surprise draw with Jamaica means that France’s place in the Round of 16 isn't a guarantee. They must beat Panama to secure their place and win Group F. If they do so, they could set up a blockbuster matchup with Germany in the Round of 16. If France is smart, they’ll use Panama to prepare — and put on an offensive clinic in the process.

If France can manage to get a good lead on Panama, they should be able to rest some of their starters and prepare for the knockout rounds.

Panama vs France Pick

Panama had a decent showing against Jamaica, but previous results against world powers like Spain and Japan provide insight into what their game against France could look like. France would be wise to use this game to prepare for the knockout rounds, both by gaining offensive momentum and resting starters.

Ultimately, France’s depth will overpower Panama and they’ll take this one 4-0.

The Pick: Panama 0 – France 4
