Real Madrid has its sights set on the upcoming Champions League quarterfinal clash against Arsenal. But first, they must host Valencia, with the obligation to win if they want to stay in the fight for the La Liga title.

It’s a match where the visitors will look to pull off a surprise—motivated by both their history and their need to distance themselves from the relegation zone. Kickoff at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium is set for Saturday, April 5, at 10:15 a.m. ET.

Here is my Real Madrid vs. Valencia prediction and La Liga odds for today's match.

Real Madrid Prediction

You can never count Real Madrid out—a lesson the team reminded everyone of this season. After a disappointing start that fell short of expectations, it seemed like they were in for a rough year. But once again, they’ve proven why they’re Europe’s most successful club, staying alive on all fronts.

They survived two knockout ties—against Manchester City and Atlético Madrid—to reach the Champions League quarterfinals. The first leg will be played in London next Tuesday, with the return leg in Madrid the following Wednesday.

At the same time, they secured a spot in the Copa del Rey final, where they'll face Barcelona—whom theyre also competing with for the La Liga title. Currently sitting second, three points behind, everything points to a head-to-head battle in the remaining nine matchdays.

The big question ahead of the Valencia match is in goal: Thibaut Courtois is expected to recover from a minor injury in time for the Champions League, and Andriy Lunin is doubtful. That could open the door for young goalkeeper Fran González to start. Ferland Mendy, Dani Ceballos, Dani Carvajal, and Eder Militao remain sidelined, and Carlo Ancelotti may also rest some regular starters.

Los Che arrive with a four-match unbeaten run (two wins and two draws), a stretch that has provided some relief in the standings. However, they still sit in 15th place, just four points above the relegation zone.

The man behind this recent uptick is head coach Carlos Corberan, who will celebrate his 100th day in charge against Real Madrid. When he took over, Valencia were second-to-last, trapped in an ongoing institutional crisis. Much of the fans' frustration remains directed at Singaporean billionaire Peter Lim, the club’s majority shareholder.

A month ago, his son, Kiat Lim, became the new club president, meaning there likely won’t be any structural changes soon. Whether there will be improvement on the pitch remains uncertain, but surviving this season in the top flight is step one.

For the match at the Bernabeu, Corberan will be missing several players. Thierry Rendall and Ivan Jaime are out with injuries, while Dimitri Foulquier, Jose Gaya, and Luis Rioja are suspended.

Real Madrid vs. Valencia Pick

The difference in quality between the two sides is vast, and it’s reflected in their respective positions in the table. Even if Real Madrid rotates some players with the Champions League in mind, they remain heavy favorites to win.

If there’s a weak spot in Carlo Ancelotti's squad, it’s the defense. They’ve conceded at least one goal in each of their last seven games and just gave up four in the draw against Real Sociedad in the Copa del Rey semifinals. The possible inclusion of an inexperienced goalkeeper only adds to the concerns.

The over/under of 3.5 goals reflects the expectation of a high-scoring game. Even with limited attacking power, Valencia may still manage to score at least one goal.
