Most will be expecting another Real Madrid victory on Saturday when Villarreal makes the trip to the capital, and it’s hard to argue against that.
The Madridistas have won four on the bounce in La Liga action, while the Yellow Submarines have just one victory to their name.
Villarreal does enter the weekend undefeated with four draws, but this will be a tough test against the in-form side of the division at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
Everything Going Right for Real Madrid
What’s not to like about Real Madrid’s start to the season? Carlo Ancelotti’s side is top of the table and scoring goals for fun right now.
To put it into perspective, Los Blancos have scored 21 goals through six matches. The next closest team is Valencia with 11.
Real Madrid also leads the league in expected goals (11.4), shots per 90 minutes (17.17) and goals per shot at 0.19.
Leading the way has been French striker Karim Benzema, who has been involved in 15 of the 21 goals this season with eight goals and seven assists. He has scored more goals than 12 teams in La Liga through six matches.
Brazilian winger Vinícius Júnior has also discovered some form early into this campaign, racking up five goals and two assists in four starts.
When Will Villarreal's Offense Wake Up?
Villarreal joins Real Madrid as two of the five teams to enter the weekend without a loss, but Unai Emery’s team sits 12th in the table with its lone victory.
The Yellow Submarines have struggled to create many chances in matches this season, ranking in the bottom half of the league in xG at 6.3 and failing to score in three of five games.
More playing time for the duo of Paco Alcácer and Gerard Moreno would help offensively, but both have been battling fitness and injuries.
Emery has relied on a pair of goals from Manu Trigueros and summer signing Arnaut Danjuma to boost his squad while his important pair has been out.
Goalkeeper Gerónimo Rulli has also really impressed so far this season, ranking in the top three of La Liga in post-shot expected goals minus goals allowed per 90 minutes at +0.46. He’ll surely be tested on Saturday.
Betting Analysis & Pick
As you would expect, Real Madrid is the heavy favorite in this match, with the Madridistas showing as -210 favorites on the moneyline and -1 (-125) at DraftKings. The game also has a high total of 3 shaded to the under at -115.
I feel the best bet for this game is to take the home team on the Asian handicap of -1 at -125, which gives you the push if Ancelotti’s team only wins by one goal.
There’s no way you can bet against Los Blancos right now with the way they are playing, although they may be priced about right for this game.
Real Madrid has won three of five this season by more than two goals, and we can’t rely on Villarreal to help with the total or Both Teams To Score markets with some of its top players injured.
The Yellow Submarines also have a much tougher Champions League fixture in the midweek to look forward to with the trip to Manchester United, while Real Madrid hosts newcomers Sheriff.
Real Madrid is likely due for some regression at some point, but I don’t see that coming this weekend.
Pick: Real Madrid -1 (-125)
