I am backing Manchester City to win and both teams to score in the Tottenham vs. Manchester City match.
Tottenham Prediction
After a home defeat to a nearly relegated Leicester at the end of January, it seemed Postecoglou’s time was running out. Elimination from the FA Cup and EFL Cup in the span of four days only made things worse for a club desperately chasing silverware.
But the criticism has eased slightly following three consecutive Premier League wins, including a 1-0 victory over Manchester United. Currently sitting in 12th place, their situation is far from ideal, but a win against City could provide a much-needed confidence boost ahead of the last competition they can win: the Europa League.
The Spurs will face AZ Alkmaar in the Round of 16 on March 6 in the Netherlands, with the second leg taking place the following week in London. Against City, they will rely on James Maddison, who has been in great form since returning from injury, along with key attacking players Son Heung-min, Brennan Johnson, and Dejan Kulusevski.
However, Tottenham is dealing with key absences. Defenders Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Radu Dragusin, and forwards Dominic Solanke and Richarlison remain sidelined. On the bright side, Timo Werner has returned to training and could get some minutes.
Manchester City Prediction
Guardiola is experiencing his toughest spell in nearly nine years at Manchester City, and rebuilding this team could be one of the biggest challenges of his career. The early Champions League elimination against Real Madrid was a massive blow, and the team has yet to show any real signs of recovery.
City sits fifth in the Premier League, with Champions League qualification for next season as their primary goal. With just a five-point gap over 10th-placed Fulham, every match is crucial.
To make matters worse, Erling Haaland has missed the last few games due to injury. The Norwegian striker, who has already scored 19 Premier League goals this season, remains doubtful for this match. If he’s unavailable, Omar Marmoush will likely lead the attack.
City will also be without John Stones and Manuel Akanji, while Rodri’s long absence further weakens their midfield. Missing the Ballon d’Or winner has been one of the biggest factors behind their struggles, and at this point, their priority is to regain confidence and salvage the season.
