The Connecticut Sun won Game 1 of their WNBA playoffs semifinals series against the Minnesota Lynx on the road, so they're definitely in line to lose Game 2 in a letdown spot, right?

Well, let's talk about it. Here's my team-specific preview for the Sun for Tuesday's clash with the Lynx.

Why The Connecticut Sun Can Cover In Game 2

The Sun won Game 1 because, guess what, their defense is elite. It's been their calling card all season long. They allowed all of eight points in the fourth quarter — that's it.

Additionally, the game was an under fest. The Sun won 73-70, for 143 total points. The total opened at 150.5 and landed at 154.5. Under both numbers. The Lynx total team under was 79.5. Under. The Sun team total landed at 75.5 — Under.

That's with the Connecticut Sun shooting 40 percent from 3, and with the Lynx better than quadrupling their free throw output.

Alyssa Thomas, who I took over 31.5 points, rebounds and assists, crushed her PRA in the final moments. Thomas absolutely wrecked the Lynx for 17 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists with an 8-for-12 shooting display. Also, she added three steals.

DeWanna Bonner immensely struggled from the floor, shooting 4-for-17 from the field, and I noted in our preview how much they'll lean on her shot creation. But despite the woeful shooting, amounting to just 10 points, she hit two 3s and pulled down a game-high 11 boards while also dishing out five assists, second only to AT.

Marina Mabrey actually led the Sun (and everyone else) in scoring with 20 points. She's on a seemingly unrelenting heater, averaging 21.3 points across three playoff games, shooting 42 percent from three on 11 attempts per game. DiJonai Carrington also chipped in 13 points on 6-of-12 shooting. Prop wise, she scorched her rebounding and RA listings with nine boards and four assists.

How to Bet the Sun vs. the Lynx in Game 2

The Lynx should take care of business in Game 2, but if there's anyone who could toss your script out the window, it's probably the league's best defense.

Then again, what has gone according to script so far this postseason is the phasing out of Brionna Jones. The Fever essentially played her off the floor as Mabrey grew into an irreplaceable component of what became their best unit, especially with Ty Harris out due to injury.

If you're a Sun backer, you should probably prepare for that, so we're going under 8.5 points for Jones. She's scored four, eight, and six in the playoffs while logging 26, 14 and 18 minutes. Jones, in her career, has seen her playoff production drop relative to her regular season production as follows — and all with the Sun.

2019: 3.5 points per game to 1.5

2020: 11.2 to 9.4

2021: 14.7 to 11.8

2022: 13.8 to 10.3

2024: 13.7 to 6.0

This year feels more extreme, sure, but she hasn't cracked 20 minutes in two games. They're not running offense through her at all, either. And they don't need to.

Pick: Brionna Jones under 8.5 points (-110 on FanDuel)
