Friday WNBA Picks
Victoria Vivians (IND) Under 5 Rebounds
Vivians is a pretty good rebounder for her size (6-foot-1), but the matchup against the Sun is brutal. They play at a very slow pace, limiting the number of possessions. Plus it’s going to be difficult for Vivians to beat out Jonquel Jones, Alyssa Thomas and DeWanna Bonner for boards.
Projecting this closer to 3.5 rebounds.
Confidence: 10 out of 10
DeWanna Bonner (CON) Under 5.5 Rebounds
Bonner played 24 minutes in her season debut on Tuesday and I’m expecting similar minutes for her in what should be an easy win over the Fever on Friday. It's going to be tough for her to clear this number in limited playing time when Jonquel Jones and Alyssa Thomas are the team’s main rebounders.
Projecting this closer to 4.5 rebounds.
Confidence: 9 out of 10
Ariel Atkins (WAS) Under 3.5 Assists
Elena Delle Donne is out for Friday night's game in order to get her some rest, which hurts Atkins assist rate in two ways:
- Atkins won’t have the luxury of dishing it out to EDD for easy assists;
- Atkins will have to be the Mystics main source of points and take more shots, lowering her assist chances.
I'm projecting her closer to 2.9 assists.
Confidence: 8 out of 10
Liz Cambage (LA) Over 19.5 P+R+A
Liz hasn’t played up to her standards for her new team so far this season. She’s shooting "only" 50% from the floor and I believe it’s safe to project her to shoot closer to 52-55% from the floor the rest of the way and see her rebound rate increase as well.
It’s only a matter of time until she breaks out and we are getting a nice “buy-low” line here.
I'm projecting this closer to 24.
Confidence: 7 out of 10
Kelsey Mitchell (IND) Under 3.5 Assists
Kelsey is off to a fantastic start to her 2022 season but faces a brutal test against the Sun, who typically play at a slow pace and are by far the best defensive team in the league — a lethal combination when it comes to limiting a stat like assists.
The Fever’s implied team total is nearly 10 points lower than their season average, which is why I’m projecting Mitchell closer to 2.8 assists.
Confidence: 7 out of 10
