The WNBA season is months away, but the New York Liberty are already making noise in the offseason.
With New York launching legal mobile sports betting, it's the perfect time to check out the odds market.
New York sports betting goes live on Jan. 8. Four sportsbooks will be immediately available to place wagers: FanDuel, DraftKings, Caesars and BetRivers.
Despite a 12-20 finish in 2021, optimism is building around the Liberty thanks to a core of Sabrina Ionescu, Natasha Howard and Betnijah Laney. Add in the addition of head coach Sandy Brondello and New York hopes to take the next step.
Let's look at odds across New York sportsbooks when it comes to the Liberty.
New York Liberty WNBA Championship Odds
Sportsbook | Liberty Odds to Win WNBA Championship |
---|---|
DraftKings | +4000 |
FanDuel | +4000 |
Caesars | +1800 |
BetRivers | +3000 |
The Liberty are still relative longshots on most odds boards. DraftKings, FanDuel and BetRivers all have the Liberty listed with the eighth-longest odds of the 12 teams in the league.
Caesars is the shortest price on the market at +1800 where 10 of the 12 teams are +1800 or shorter.
New York Liberty MVP & Coach of the Year Odds
Odds will eventually be posted for individual awards such as MVP and Coach of the Year.
The Liberty will need to be competitive for Ionescu, Howard or Laney to get MVP consideration. No Liberty player received top-five MVP votes in 2021.
Brondello will likely be a trendy pick to Coach of the Year should the Liberty immediately show improvement. Brondello was previously the coach of the Phoenix Mercury, where she won the 2014 WNBA Championship and made the playoffs in each of his first eight seasons. She was also Coach of the Year in 2014.
