Sean Koerner, our Director of Predictive Analytics, highlights his top-five WNBA props to target on PrizePicks this Tuesday. He has a 65-28 record on picks he’s written about so far this season.
Picks are listed below in order of his confidence, with a 10-rating being the highest.
Note that Sean likes to play the following picks as a five-pack, then two- to three-packs based on the props he likes the most, hence why he provides confidence ratings.
What is PrizePicks? A daily fantasy operator — meaning they’re available in more states (30) than sports betting is! — PrizePicks offers a unique opportunity for action on player props in which you parlay two or more plays together.
Thursday WNBA Picks
Skylar Diggins-Smith Under 20.5 Points (8)
Skylar Diggins-Smith is coming off of a 32-point performance against the Lynx. However, she played 48 minutes due to the game going to double OT, and I'm expecting the Mercury to come out a bit flat tonight against the Mystics.
Washington has a top-two defense and plays at the slowest pace in the league. This is a tough spot for Diggins-Smith, and I'm projecting her closer to 18.5 points.
Sylvia Fowles Over 21 Points + Rebounds (8)
Sylvia Fowles was eased back into the rotation after returning from a five-game absence and averaged just 21 minutes over her past six games. However, last game, she played 36 minutes thanks to double overtime.
We can expect her to play around 28-30 minutes tonight, which should be enough time to clear 21 points + rebounds.
The Wings struggle to defend the rim, which is where Fowles dominates. I'm projecting her closer to 23.5 points + rebounds.
Isabelle Harrison Under 4.5 Rebounds (8)
Isabelle Harrison (6-foot-3) doesn't have the size to match up against Fowles (6-foot-6), so I think we will see Teaira McCowan (6-foot-7) get significant minutes tonight.
Also, the Lynx are a tough team to get rebounds against (32.4 rebounds allowed per game allowed is second lowest), and I'm projecting Harrison closer to 3.5 rebounds.
Nneka Ogwumike Under 3.5 free throws made (8)
Nneka Ogwumike is expected to return to the lineup tonight after missing some time due to an illness. There is a slight chance that she will play at less than 100% or have her playing time capped at around 28-30 minutes.
Either way, the Sky are very good at preventing their opponents at getting to the line (15.9 FTA per game ranks third lowest).
I'm projecting Ogwumike closer to 2.3 free throws made.
Courtney Vandersloot over 5.5 ast (7)
Courtney Vandersloot has failed to clear this number in three of the last four games. However, she should bounce back in what should be a fast-paced, high-scoring game against the Sparks tonight.
She's cleared this number 69% of the time this season. I'm projecting her closer to 6.5 assists.
