Ben Lyons: I'm very excited to see Nneka Ogwumike and Aliyah Boston go up against each other. They are two of the best players when it comes to double-doubles. Nneka is coming up on the 100th double-double of her career.
The Sparks are on a three-game road trip on the east coast. They did win that crazy game against the Mystics on the road, which was a solid win for them even though Washington didn't have Elena Della Donne.
I love the fact that the Fever are at home tonight. They've eclipsed their win total from last year. They are good up front against the Nneka Ogwumike types with both Aliyah and NaLyssa Smith. I like Lexie Hull, and I like Kelsey Mitchell. This team's record is terrible, but they have something going. They are definitely moving in the right direction and are playing competitive.
There are a lot of players this season who played Athletes Unlimited, stayed in America in the offseason and are having really nice seasons as a result. Alyssa Smith, Lexi Hall and Kelsey Mitchell are all examples. Odyssey Sims played her way back into the league. There are a lot of great players this year who used Athletes Unlimited as a springboard and are having success in the W this season. I hope more of them decide to do that coming up this year.
Pick: Fever -1.5 |

Ben Lyons: Not only have the Aces been historically good this season winning games, but they have been dominating teams with double-digit victories.
You look at some of these lines, they're often favored by 11.5 or 12.5 on the road, and they win by 19. They remind me of the St. Louis Rams back when they were the greatest show on turf. When you'd look on a Sunday, they would be a 19-point favorite and Kurt Warner would have them win by 30. This is what we're dealing with with the Aces. They still have a bad taste in their mouth from Sunday, after an embarrassing loss on national television.
Satou Sabally has been great from Dallas, but I think they've overachieved this season. They are above .500. When you think back over the past couple of years, they've had a plethora of draft picks. They hit on some, and completely whiffed on others. That's what happens in the W.
I feel like this is a team that can compete. However, I like Vegas in a blowout revenge game. A'ja Wilson was pissed in the postgame, and I think she takes it out on everyone down in Dallas.
Pick: Aces -8.5 |
Mystics vs. Mercury Odds
Mystics Odds | ||

+2.5 -108 | 158.5 -106 / -114 | +122 |
Mercury Odds | ||

-2.5 -112 | 158.5 -106 / -114 | -150 |
Ben Lyons: It's so great to see Diana Taurasi playing so well. I hope we begin to celebrate and honor her career as the season winds down, since she is obviously one of the greats of all time. She's been balling out as of late, which has righted the ship for this team that has gone through so much.
Brittney Griner has been out of the lineup, Skylar Diggins-Smith has been out of the lineup, and they're dealing with ownership changes. All sorts of things have been going on out in Phoenix, but I like this game for them at home tonight.
The Mystics have had a lot of scrappy fight in them, However, they don't have the talent with all the injuries they are dealing with. It is disappointing to see them under .500 this late in the season. I thought they could challenge the Liberty in the East this year.
Pick: Mercury -2.5 |
