Bryan Fonseca's Bet Bet For Sparks vs. Sun

DeWanna Bonner Over 1.5 Threes

DeWanna Bonner only had two attempts from deep last time out, but was coming off a 4-for-7 display from deep.

Ultimately, Bonner has cleared this over in four of seven and I think this is a rough spot for the Los Angeles Sparks, who are in Connecticut — statistically the league's best defense even still — in their third game in four nights.

Bonner's three-point volume has swings, but she'll have openings against LA, who is one of the league's worst defenses and is the worst in the W at guarding the three, allowing opponents to hit 38 percent.

Pick: DeWanna Bonner Over 1.5 Threes

Breanna Stewart Over 20.5 Points

Stewie and the Liberty take on the Dallas Wings in an exploitable matchup.

Dallas has the worst Defensive Rating (110.2) and they play at the third-fastest Pace (97.67) in the W.

Stewie generally contributes all around and is only averaging 19.8 ppg this season. However, she’s absolutely destroyed Dallas in their prior games over the past few seasons. She’s exceeded 20.5 Points in 6/7 games while averaging an impressive 28.6 ppg.

This is a prime matchup for Stewart, and I’ll back her to have one of her best games this season and grab over 20.5 points.

Pick: Breanna Stewart Over 20.5 Points

LA Sparks Total Team Under 70.5 Points

I don't like the Connecticut Sun as much as I want to, nor as much as I did early in the year, but I do believe in their defense generally speaking.

Additionally, I think the defense is better than we've seen lately, so I'm buying this as a bounce back spot at home.

Connecticut is back at home for the first time in over a month, where they've allowed opponents to finish under 70.5 points in two of three, and the Sparks are coming off just 71 against the Las Vegas Aces, and also had 68 against the New York Liberty two games earlier.

This will be L.A.'s third game in four nights and already their fourth in six, which adds to the Sun's defensive upside tonight.

Pick: LA Sparks Total Team Under 70.5 Points

Marina Mabrey Over 2.5 Threes

By Joe Dellera

Marina Mabrey was just traded to the Connecticut Sun and is giving them much needed spacing with her 3-point shooting while still being able to create for herself and others off the bounce. The Sun play the L.A. Sparks on Tuesday night. L.A. allows their opponents to shoot a league-best 37.9% from 3 point range and they have the third-worst Defensive Rating in the league (106.0).

The Sun play slow while the Sparks play at about a league average Pace as well, so it’s not a Pace down game for Connecticut by any means. Moreover, since Mabrey arrived, the Sun have averaged a 98.40 Pace, a significant uptick from their full season mark of 92.82. It’s a bit too early to tell if they’re going to play faster for sure with Mabrey, but there are some indications they will get a few extra possessions.

Prior to the trade, when Mabrey played the Sparks this season she scored 20 points including 6/11 shooting from 3 point range. Considering she’s taken 41.6% of her team’s 3 point attempts in her two games as a member of the Sun, it’s reasonable to expect her to cook in a plus matchup against LA.

I’ll back her to exceed 2.5 3s and don’t mind sprinkling 4+ (+300 Bet365/+290 FD).

Pick: Marina Mabrey Over 2.5 Threes

Jim Turvey's Best Bet For Sparks vs. Sun

DiJonai Carrington Under 11.5 Points

By Jim Turvey

With Marina Mabrey in town for the Sun, someone was bound to see a decrease in usage. It has only been one game where DiJ and Mabrey have overlapped, but it looks like the early returns are that that player is Carrington.

After missing Mabrey's debut for personal reasons, in the second game with the new-look Sun, Carrington played on 22 minutes (down from 29.2 season average) and took just five field goal attempts (down from 10.5 season average). The result was a measly four points against the Dream.

We don't want to overreact to one-game sample sizes, but it appears as though Alyssa Thomas and DeWanna Bonner are going to continue to get their looks and it makes perfect sense that DiJ would move down the pecking order with Mabrey in town.

I would play this to under 9.5 at plus money.

Pick: DiJonai Carrington Under 11.5 Points
