Sun -12.5 vs. Mystics

7 p.m. ET ⋅ WNBA League Pass

By Dano Mataya

The last time these two teams faced, the Sun won, 84-77, and did not cover the spread.

I think Brionna Jones is huge for what this team does, and outside of her year with the injury, she has been top-five in win shares in the WNBA.

They just held the Dream to 50 points, and I think the Sun show up in this game as a tune-up for the Liberty matchup this weekend.

I'm not worried about a look-ahead spot against a winless Mystics team.

The Mystics have some good things going, but it's going to be tough sledding all season. I don't see the guards hitting shots like they did against New York, so I'm laying the points with the Sun.

Liberty -6.5 at Sky

8 p.m. ET ⋅ NBA TV

By Dano Mataya

This is a revenge spot for the Liberty, who lost to the Sky, 90-81, the last time they faced off. I think New York will take this game personally, and I could see it blowing Chicago out from the start.

I expect Marina Mabrey to have a big game, and we know how due Brianna Stewart is for a breakout game. The Liberty certainly have not played their best ball yet, and it's time for them to cover against someone not named the Fever.

Kamilla Cardoso debuted in their last game and missed the first contest against the Sky. She's a great player, and I'm excited to see her develop. I think her offense is far ahead of her counterpart in Angel Reese.

Mercury +8 at Storm

10 p.m. ET ⋅ CBS Sports Network

By Dano Mataya

We have yet to see Seattle cover against a reputable team.

The Mercury have some dogs in Kahleah Copper, Natasha Cloud and Diana Taurasi, the ageless wonder. They're not going to roll over for anybody.

The Storm have the advantage inside, but the Mercury can win this one straight up if they can get out and run while making some shots. They shoot more 3s than anybody, and that, of course, is the great equalizer.

I think eight points is way too many in this contest, and I'll roll with the road dog here and probably sprinkle the moneyline.
