WNBA Player Props for Alanna Smith, Aliyah Boston on Friday, August 30

WNBA Player Props for Alanna Smith, Aliyah Boston on Friday, August 30 article feature image

The WNBA returns to action this Friday after a one-day absence, and today's slate features a tantalizing contest between rookie sensations Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese, as the Indiana Fever take on the Chicago Sky at 7:30 p.m. ET on ION. With three other matchups on the schedule today, it should be an excellent evening of basketball for viewers.

Continue below for my WNBA player props for Friday night.

Another day, another opportunity for a player to trample this dreadful Dallas defense. The Wings give up the most rim attempts per game, as well as the largest field goal percentage at the rim. They offer little resistance to rollers, and opponents absolutely thrash them in transition too.

Lynx forward Alanna Smith is set up for a productive night given these glaring weaknesses. Per Synergy Sports, she ranks in the 83rd percentile in points per possession on rolls to the basket and should consistently knife her way to the hoop tonight. Smith also runs well in transition, where her points per possession is 73rd percentile.

Meanwhile, the veteran owns a 43.6 3PT% on three attempts per game. If Dallas runs drop coverage or tries to pack the paint, then Smith’s range will be an asset for Minnesota’s offense.

Finally, the Wings play at the third-fastest pace in the league, which should boost chances for a typically sluggish Lynx offense.

Smith has notched 8, 12, and 15 points across three matchups this season. Look for her to hit double digits again, and +400 odds is also a solid price for 15+ points.

Fever vs Sky Player Props: Busy Night Ahead for Aliyah Boston

Aliyah Boston’s 1.4 blocks per game are seventh-most in the entire WNBA, and Chicago is an excellent matchup for her.

Chicago’s offense easily paces the league in rim attempts and paint attempts per game. They lack high-volume outside shooters that can get red-hot and take over games, so the Sky don’t really have another option besides attacking the basket. That means challenging Boston, who should subsequently rack up contests.

Angel Reese, in particular, may be a steady source of blocks. Her interior scoring currently lacks finesse, so Boston will be able to anticipate Reese’s shots and properly time her contests.

In three games against the Sky this year, Boston recorded 2, 4, and 5 blocks. I expect the reigning Rookie of the Year to crush this line once again today.
