Since returning from the long All-Star and Paris Olympics break, the Atlanta Dream have played much better, winning three of their past four games, including victories against the Connecticut Sun, Seattle Storm and Phoenix Mercury. Much of their success can be attributed to Rhyne Howard and Jordin Canada’s health; they finally have a team that can compete with the best squads in the WNBA.
But can their fully loaded, playoff-seeking squad stop the red-hot Caitlin Clark? Can Sabrina Ionescu and the New York Liberty get back on track after losing to the Sun on their home floor? Find out in my WNBA player props for Monday, August 26, featuring a breakdown of Caitlin Clark and Sabrina Ionescu props I'm locking in today.
WNBA Player Prop Bets for 8-26
- Caitlin Clark Over 21.5 Points (-115, FanDuel)
Sabrina Ionescu Over 2.5 Made Three Pointers (-155, DraftKings)
Fever vs Dream: Caitlin Clark Prop Pick
Clark’s incredible stretch of basketball continued after she scored 23 points and dished out eight assists against the Minnesota Lynx, who boast one of the best defenses in the league.
Her performance on Saturday marked the sixth time in the past seven games that she finished with 20 or more points. In that span, Clark has averaged nearly 24 points, 11 assists, and five rebounds per game on 46% shooting from the field.
Clark has cleared this point line (21.5) in four consecutive games and five of her past seven. She has been on a tear, and her 17 field goal attempts per game since July 10 gives us faith that she will continue to be on the attack.
This game could be the difference between making and missing the postseason, as the Fever and Dream are ranked eighth and ninth, respectively. Clark will hope to hold onto eighth place and bounce back after two previous poor performances against Atlanta.
Pick: Caitlin Clark Over 21.5 Points (-115) – FanDuel
Liberty vs Mercury: Sabrina Ionescu Prop Pick
Volume reigns supreme, especially in 3-point shooting props. Following closely behind “volume” on the 3-point shooting props totem pole is “accuracy.” In this case, Ionescu has been taking just shy of 11 3-pointers per game in her past five outings, hitting an average of 3.6 in that stretch.
Ionescu has also knocked down nearly 35% of her 3-point attempts this season, continually proving she is among the best volume shooters from behind the arc in the WNBA.
In fact, Ionescu ranks eighth in 3-point percentage this season among players who take five or more 3-point attempts per game and have played at least 20 games. Of course, that list includes several players relegated to only catch-and-shoot threes; not every sharpshooter can shoot it at a high clip off the dribble.
Ionescu’s matchup against Phoenix is also a tremendous advantage for her, especially from behind the arc. The Mercury rank 11th (out of 12 teams) in opponent 3-pointers made and dead-last in opponent 3-pointers attempted, meaning she should not have an issue finding clean looks throughout the game.
