Two games are on the WNBA schedule for Thursday, September 5. This article will focus on the first contest of the day between the Seattle Storm and New York Liberty.

Keep reading to see my WNBA same-game parlay for this Storm vs. Liberty matchup.

WNBA Same Game Parlay for Storm vs. Liberty

  • New York Liberty -7.5 (-110)
  • Breanna Stewart First Liberty Basket (+280)

Parlay Odds: +529 on FanDuel

New York Liberty -7.5 (-110)

These teams have played twice so far, and the Liberty prevailed by 13 and 11 points. Seattle is hardly a pushover, but there’s a reason New York holds the championship-favorites crown. They have the two-way firepower to douse the Storm’s slightly below-average offense.

With Jonquel Jones, Breanna Stewart, and Nyara Sabally anchoring the frontcourt, New York’s top-ranked defense reduces interior scorers to rubble. They surrender the lowest field goal percentage at the rim and in the paint. Additionally, opponents average the fewest shots per game via cuts.

That should terrify Storm fans because Seattle’s offense is last in both 3-point percentage and points per jump shot. They are essentially stuck between a rock and a hard place. Either wade into the forest and challenge the Liberty’s defensive giants or embrace a jump-shot heavy diet despite their inability to knock them down.

New York won’t give away easy opportunities too because they control the glass, rarely foul, and limit turnovers. Overall, it should be a steep uphill climb for the Storm’s offense in this contest.

On the other end, Seattle’s foes get to the rim at a high rate and find success via post-ups. Stewart and Jones will be a nuisance every possession by fighting for position and converting opportunities around the basket. The Storm cannot afford to adjust by packing the paint with Sabrina Ionescu, Betnijah Laney-Hamilton, Leonie Fiebich, and Kayla Thornton spacing the court.

Finally, the Liberty are coming off six days of rest, while the Storm played on Tuesday. Fresh legs will be an advantage for New York, especially this late in the season.

Breanna Stewart First Liberty Basket (+280)

Let’s add some juice to this same-game parlay. The reigning MVP has taken New York’s first shot of the game in 38.7% of her starts, which leads the team. Combine that with Stewart’s quality matchup against a Seattle defense that bleeds the most paint attempts per game, and +280 is a great price here.

She cashed New York’s first basket in both matchups versus the Storm this season, and I expect her to run it back.
