The WNBA returns with a three-game slate on Monday, August 26. It follows up an extraordinary battle between the Sparks and Wings Sunday night that saw an incredible 223 points scored in regulation. So why not follow up last night's excitement with a same-game parlay for one of tonight's marquee matchups?

Keep reading to see my two-leg WNBA same-game parlay for tonight's New York Liberty versus Phoenix Mercury matchup.

WNBA Same-Game Parlay Pick #1: New York Liberty Moneyline (-240)

For the first leg of the same-game parlay, I am taking New York to win the game. They are first in offensive rating and second in defensive rating this season, which has led to a dominant 25-5 record. In addition to being the best team, their matchup against Phoenix is decent.

The Liberty own the bigs to vie against Brittney Griner. With Jonquel Jones and Breanna Stewart on the court, New York can limit Griner’s scoring. For example, post-ups form a large portion of Griner’s scoring diet, and the Liberty easily hold opponents to the lowest points per possession on post-ups.

Additionally, Jones being a stretch five will often lure Griner out of the paint, thus removing a key rim protector standing in the way of New York’s drivers and cutters.

The Mercury also struggle to protect the glass, as they give up the largest offensive rebound rate. Look for New York to exploit this flaw and secure extra possessions.

Finally, Phoenix absolutely bleeds 3-point attempts, which bodes well for a Liberty offense that takes the most 3pt shots per game across the WNBA.

WNBA Same-Game Parlay Pick #2: Sabrina Ionescu 3+ Made Threes (-172)

Speaking of the Mercury’s 3-point defensive woes, Sabrina Ionescu is set for a productive contest. She averages 8.5 attempts per game from 3-point range – the third most in the W. Specifically, Ionescu loves to shoot from above-the-break, and Phoenix allows the most of these shots per game.

Over her past 15 games, the sharpshooter has averaged 9.7 3-point attempts per game and hit this line 66% of the time.

Plus, in two matchups against the Mercury this year, Ionescu went 4-for-9 and 4-for-14 from 3-point territory. Look for her to once again pummel Phoenix with outside shots.
