Ole Miss Football
Ole Miss enters the 2024 campaign riding the wave of its best ever season. Head coach Lane Kiffin guided the Rebels to an 11-2 record, capped off with a victory vs. Penn State in the Peach Bowl.
The expectations are even higher for Kiffin’s fourth season in Oxford. While Georgia, Texas, and Alabama are atop the 2024 SEC Championship odds, Ole Miss is a viable contender to qualify for the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff.
The return of legit Heisman Trophy candidate Jaxson Dart is a major reason for the optimism that the Rebels can make the program’s first CFP appearance. The prolific quarterback is coming off a strong season in which he amassed 3,364 yards, 23 touchdowns and only five interceptions, while also rushing for eight scores.
Receivers Jordan Watkins and Tre Harris as well as tight end Caden Prieskorn will provide superb targets for Dart. Ulysses Bentley IV and transfers Henry Parrish Jr. and Jacory Croskey-Merritt will be tasked with replacing All-SEC running back Quinshon Judkins, who departed for Ohio State.
On the defensive side, Ole Miss acquired some much needed line assistance in the portal. The Rebels picked up highly in-demand Walter Nolan (Texas A&M) and Prince Umanmielen (Florida). Ole Miss also added Arkansas linebacker Chris Paul Jr. and Alabama cornerback Trey Amos.
Under the innovative leadership of Kiffin, the Rebels are a dangerous darkhorse for the SEC title and certainly have the makings of a playoff team.
Ole Miss Point Spreads
"Covering the spread" is a reference to a spread bet, which is a bet on how much a team will win the game by.
Here’s how an Ole Miss spread might look:
- Ole Miss +9.5 (-110)
- Georgia -9.5 (-110)
If Ole Miss wins 24-21, they’re winners ATS, since they need to win or lose by at least 10 points to cash spread tickets. Georgia, on the other hand, can cover with a win of 9 or more points.
Ole Miss Over/Unders
Over/unders are bets on the total amount of points scored in a game.
Oddsmakers set the total at how many points they think will be scored, so it could be 47 for a game against LSU, for example. If you took the under, a 24-21 final means your bet pays off no matter who wins the game. If you bet over, you’d need there to be at least 48 points scored between the two teams. Ties on the bet are possible, and they result in refunds.
Ole Miss Moneylines
Moneyline odds take into account how likely a team is to win the game and adjust payouts accordingly, a winning record doesn’t always mean a profit.
Ole Miss defeating South Carolina as a -300 favorite is fine, but a $30 bet pays out just $10. If you’re able to catch Ole Miss as a +300 underdog, though, a $10 bet on them profits $30. These bets are simplest to understand with $10 or $100 as a unit, but the math is the same regardless.
Ole Miss Props
Player props are bets on the stats put up by a player for a single game. You could bet on players' rushing or passing stats.
Ole Miss Futures
Ole Miss is flying a little under the radar thanks to sharing the SEC with Alabama, Georgia, and Texas. However, if you think they’re going to win the conference, you can put your money down on a futures bet.
Futures are wagers that settle at the end of the season, and besides odds to win the conference, popular futures bets include players' odds to win certain end-of-season awards or over/unders on team wins throughout the year.
