Three Highest Totals
1. Los Angeles Dodgers (104.5) — Last season, the Dodgers had a preseason win total of 103.5 — that number has ticked up after a rather ridiculous offseason in which they added Blake Snell, Roki Sasaki, Michael Conforto, Tanner Scott, Kirby Yates, Hyeseong Kim, and also kept most of the players from their championship team.
T2. Atlanta Braves (93.5) — It was a brutal 2024 campaign for the Braves from an injury standpoint. Pretty much every key player they have — Spencer Strider, Ronald Acuña Jr., Austin Riley, Ozzie Albies, Sean Murphy, Michael Harris II — suffered a season-ending injury or missed time in some capacity … yet, they won 89 games and made the playoffs. While they should be luckier on the injury front, the offseason did see them lose veterans Max Fried, Travis d'Arnaud, Charlie Morton, Ramón Laureano, Gio Urshela, and Jesse Chavez. Their one big add was outfielder Jurickson Profar.
T2. New York Yankees (93.5) — The Yankees enter 2025 with the same preseason over/under they had last year — the difference this time around is Juan Soto is no longer part of their team. New York pivoted with a number of splashy supplemental moves, acquiring Max Fried and Paul Goldschmidt through free agency as well as Devin Williams, Cody Bellinger, and Fernando Cruz via trades.
3. New York Mets (92.5) — Following an unlikely run to the NLCS, the Mets loaded up in the offseason. They landed the best free agent available in Juan Soto and re-signed Sean Manaea and Pete Alonso. They also added a trio of starters in Clay Holmes, Frankie Montas, and Griffin Canning, plus reliever Ryne Stanek.
Three Lowest Totals
1. Chicago White Sox (52.5) — It's not surprising to see the White Sox with the lowest total after a historically bad 41-win season, but surely this number is too low? PECOTA projections from Baseball Prospectus have Chicago at 61.7 wins while FanGraphs has it at 63. Then again, it's not like the Sox have a vastly improved big-league roster; they traded their best pitcher in Garrett Crochet to jumpstart their rebuild and star outfielder Luis Robert Jr. could be next.
2. Colorado Rockies (59.5) — The Rockies once again did nothing meaningful over the offseason. They're a bottom-feeder staple.
3. Miami Marlins (63.5) — Wins were hard to come by for the Marlins last season. It could be more of the same this year after an offseason highlighted by the departures of veterans Jesús Luzardo and Jake Burger.
