The Freeway Series starts tonight at Chavez Ravine for a quick two-game series featuring the Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Angels.

The Angels make the trek north on I-5 after dropping two of three games at home to the Brewers, while the Dodgers return home after grabbing three of four contests at Colorado.

Here's an Angels vs. Dodgers pick, including MLB odds and predictions for June 21, below.

Los Angeles Angels

The Halos are looking to end a 10-game losing streak to the Dodgers, which dates back to 2021. Also, each defeat has come by two runs or more.

Ron Washington's team has won each of the past two series openers, including rallying past Milwaukee for a 5-3 victory on Monday.

In the last two losses to the Brewers, the Angels were held without a run in the first five innings. In their last 24 games, the Halos have posted a 5-15-4 record in the first five innings, while scoring one run or less 13 times.

The last time the Angels defeated the Dodgers came on August 6, 2021, as Patrick Sandoval started that night for the Halos.

Sandoval is on the mound tonight and is seeking his third win of the season. The southpaw enters this series with a dreadful 2-8 record and 5.24 ERA.

However, the Angels are 3-0 this month in games started by Sandoval, although L.A. needed to rally in the last two victories against Houston and San Francisco. Sandoval's best June outing came at home against the Padres in a 4-2 triumph as he tossed six innings and struck out seven batters.

Things have changed a bit since the last time the Angels knocked off the Dodgers nearly three years ago. Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman weren't on the Dodgers, while the likes of Justin Turner, Albert Pujols and Corey Seager were in the lineup that night.

And Sandoval was opposed by former Cy Young winner David Price on the mound, who retired after the 2022 season.

Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers continue to distance themselves from the rest of the pack in the NL West as they own a nine-game lead over the Giants and Padres heading into the weekend.

Los Angeles captured three of four games at Colorado this week in the first series without All-Star Mookie Betts, who's sidelined with a fractured left hand.

The Dodgers finished off the series win at Coors Field on Thursday by jumping out to a 5-0 lead before holding off the Rockies, 5-3, marking the only under in that four-game set.

Los Angeles hasn't been automatic in home series openers, splitting the last 10 Game 1's at Dodger Stadium, which includes losses to Colorado, Washington and Cincinnati.

Landon Knack makes his first start since May 19 as the right-hander has allowed two earned runs or less in each of his first four outings this season.

The rookie has pitched five innings or less three times as his longest outing came in an 11-2 blowout of the Nationals. Knack lasted six innings and scattered three hits in that one.

The Dodgers' lineup has avoided strikeouts against opposing starting pitchers of late. In 12 of the last 13 games, starting pitchers facing the Dodgers have finished under their strikeout prop as L.A. struck out four times or fewer 11 times.

Sandoval's strikeout prop is listed at 5.5, but the under sits at heavy juice between -160 and -170.

Betting Pick & Prediction

It seems chalky to back the Dodgers, but the Angels are a tough team to support at this point.

Yes, the Halos have won three straight starts by Sandoval, but they needed some good fortune in the last two victories.

Knack has turned into a solid option in his limited opportunities and has faced all teams that are better than the Angels in his first four outings.

Let's back the Dodgers in the first five innings at -0.5 against the Angels.

Pick: Dodgers F5 -0.5 (-120, Play to -130)
