We have the fourth and final game of this series as the AL East's Baltimore Orioles host the AL West's Los Angeles Angels. Baltimore has won each of the first three contests and will look to complete the sweep on Sunday.
Will Baltimore be able to extend its winning streak to eight games, or can the Angles avoid yet another sweep?
Los Angeles Angels: Can Suarez Stop Losing Streak?
The Los Angeles Angels have been in horrible form recently as they have now lost eight of their past 10 games. I expect this trend to continue as left-hander Jose Suarez is slated to take the mound for Los Angeles.
Through nine appearances this season, Suarez is 1-2 with a 4.30 ERA and a 1.54 WHIP. I do not expect any improvement from Suarez as he possesses a .342 xwOBA, .257 xBA and a .468 xSLG this season.
In his one start against the Orioles this season, Suarez allowed three earned runs on four hits through 4 1/3 innings. Following Suarez is a fade-worthy bullpen.
Since June 1st, the Angels' relief pitching ranks just 17th in the league in ERA, 22nd in BA, 21st in SLG and 18th in wOBA. This pitching staff may not get much run support either as it is slated to go against right-hander Austin Voth.
This season, Voth has thrown two perfect innings against the Angels while striking out three of six batters. Since the beginning of June, the Angels rank just 24th in the league in BA, 23rd in SLG, 26th in OPS and 26th in wOBA when facing right-handed pitchers.
Baltimore Orioles: Will Winning Streak Continue?
While the Angels enter this game on a losing streak, the Baltimore Orioles have been playing their best ball all season as they currently ride a seven-game win streak. I expect this trend to continue as the Orioles are slated to go with right-hander Austin Voth on the mound.
Voth is really a reliever who is stepping into the starting rotation for the time being and I do not suspect he will go any longer than four innings. This means Baltimore will rely on its bullpen for the majority of the game, a big benefit in this matchup as they boast one of the most underrated and talented bullpens in the league.
Since June 1st, the Orioles' relief pitching ranks fourth in the league in ERA, ninth in BA, 14th in SLG and seventh in wOBA. This pitching staff should get good run support as the Orioles are slated to go against left-hander Jose Suarez.
When facing left-handed pitchers, the Orioles rank 10th in the league in BA, seventh in SLG, eighth in OPS and eighth in wOBA since the beginning of June.
Angels-Orioles Pick
I think Baltimore completes the sweep here. No offense to Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani, who are unquestionably two of the top three baseball players in the world, but the Angels are awful.
Baltimore has been on the come-up all year, especially recently as the Orioles continue to find ways to win baseball games. This team is sneaky good, and they are anchored by a strong bullpen that will shut down seven of Los Angeles' nine hitters throughout the game.
Pick: Baltimore Orioles ML (-110) | Play up to (-125)
