We have another AL East battle on our hands tonight as the Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles begin a three-game set at Camden Yards.

This will be the second series between these two teams, and Toronto is in need of redemption after getting swept in late May.

The Blue Jays may be in good shape to even up the season series as they come into this opening matchup red hot. Toronto has won seven of its last 10 games and will hand the ball to Chris Bassitt, who has a 1.79 ERA over his previous seven starts.

As for the Orioles, they have gotten back to winning ways as well. Baltimore, which has emerged victorious in six of its last 10 games, will hand the ball to Dean Kremer, who has struggled, to say the least.

So, what's the best way to bet this series-opening matchup between the Blue Jays and Orioles? Let's take a closer look at the odds to make our pick.

Toronto Blue Jays

The Blue Jays haven't quite been tearing the cover off the ball like they were last season, but they still boast a very formidable offense.

Toronto ranks 10th in team barrel rate, and all that loud contact has led to hits. It's third in xBA and is actually overachieving a bit at the moment.

The one man leading this potent lineup is Bo Bichette. Bichette is currently tied for the league lead in hits and ranks fourth with a .317 average. He has been a spark at the top of the order, and he should continue to set the table tonight against Kremer.

Things have not gone too well for Kremer, who enters this outing with a 4.89 ERA. Many signs even point to his numbers worsening tonight. Not only does he have a tough lineup ahead of him, but he's also due for some sizable regression with an xERA of 6.18.

He's surrendered loads of hard contact this season, ranking in the 18th percentile in average exit velocity and ninth percentile in hard-hit rate. Given what we've seen from the top of this Blue Jays order, they could do damage early in this one.

Baltimore Orioles

The Orioles are the one team that continues to gain ground on the Rays in the AL East, and their young lineup is a big reason why. Many of Baltimore's young hitters have had success in the first third of the season, as they have five players with above-average exit velocities and hard-hit rates.

They will need all of them to step up tonight as they face a veteran right-hander in Bassitt. After a rough April, Bassitt has really found his stride over the last month and a half.

While he's looked as sharp as ever, some signs point in the opposite direction as well. Bassitt is not missing bats as he has in the past. His whiff rate sits in the 23rd percentile, and his strikeout rate is the lowest it's been since 2020.

This increase in contact could prove detrimental against this Orioles lineup. With an xERA, FIP and SIERA all a run higher than his season ERA, regression could hit him hard.

Blue Jays vs Orioles Betting Pick

Aside from winning, the one thing that has not been lacking in the AL East this season is offense. Both of these clubs can swing it and are in great spots to succeed early in this game.

The Blue Jays should put some hurt on Kremer, who's been making too many mistakes over the plate.

Baltimore is also a sneaky-tough opponent for the seemingly hot Bassitt. We know now that Bassitt has been overachieving, and this Orioles lineup should knock him back down to earth.

Back both of these hot lineups — and remove any worry about each team's excellent bullpen — by taking the first five over.
