The Toronto Blue Jays will continue their road trip as they begin a series with the Detroit Tigers this evening.

The Jays come into the matchup fresh off a sweep of the White Sox and are hoping their bats stay hot.

However, the Tigers could say the same, as they were able to salvage their final game against the A's yesterday with a 9-0 victory.

The big question mark for both sides in this matchup will be the men on the mound.

Alek Manoah will make his return to the big leagues after being sent down following a string of rough outings.

His counterpart — Alex Faedo — may be just as unpredictable, as he comes in with a 5.54 ERA on the season. Plus, this Blue Jays lineup will be the toughest he's faced in quite a while.

So, what's the best way to bet on the Blue Jays vs. Tigers series opener? Let's take a closer look to find out.

Toronto Blue Jays

The Jays are eight games over .500 but eight games back in the division. It's pretty shocking to see, as they're one of the more complete teams in baseball. Their lineup has begun to look fearsome, too — as it did last season.

Toronto is now third in the majors in xBA, and that's due to it also being top-10 in average exit velocity and hard hit rate. This is a lineup that has a scary top of the order with Bo Bichette, Vlad Guerrero Jr. and Matt Chapman, and Brandon Belt has become another bat to fear.

While this lineup is dangerous, it remains in question as to whether it'll do damage against Faedo. He will be making his first start since May 30 as he comes off the IL.

Prior to his finger injury, the Florida product was finding some success.

In five starts, Faedo has held his opposition to just a .233 xBA and an average exit velocity of 88.5 mph. He'll also have the elements working in his favor for this outing.

Faedo is a fly-ball pitcher and the wind will be blowing in at Comerica tonight. So even if the Jays square him up, the ball may not carry as far.

Detroit Tigers

Detroit's lineup is unlike Toronto's, as it doesn't strike fear into any opposing pitcher. However, the Tigers must be given credit, as they have their share of legitimate threats at the dish.

Spencer Torkelson, Andy Ibanez and Kerry Carpenter all have above-average hard-hit rates. We also can't overlook the streaks of Javy Baez and the peskiness of Zach McKinstry at the top of the order.

Manoah will be making his first big-league start since being demoted in early June. He struggled mightily before that, as he posted a 6.36 ERA through 13 starts.

However, he appeared to find it in his most recent start in Double-A. He struck out 10 batters over five innings while allowing just one earned run.

While this is a big step up in competition, we have to expect some positive regression at the big-league level here.

Blue Jays vs. Tigers Betting Pick

This matchup is very intriguing, as we have two young arms who've both flashed their potential. However, Faedo appears to be up to the task against a formidable Blue Jays lineup.

Also, Manoah has to have some confidence entering this start after putting together a solid performance in his last minor-league outing.

However, if either or both starters begin to falter, each bullpen should be able to pick them up. Both bullpens in this matchup rank inside the top 10 in SIERA and are due for some positive regression.

Lastly, the wind will be a factor — as fly balls will likely be knocked down — and it'll be harder for either lineup to drive the ball tonight.

So, take the under in this matchup.
