The Atlanta Braves started off the series in the Bronx with a bang as they dismantled the Yankees in Friday’s win. The Yankees have scuffled as of late, losing four of their last five games.
It’s been the opposite story for the Braves, who have started to get their offense going, and have won six of their last seven games. On Saturday, it will be Charlie Morton pitching for the Braves and Marcus Stroman for the Yankees.
The latest Braves vs Yankees odds have the Yankees as -130 moneyline favorites with an over/under of 9 (-108o / -112u). Let's get to my Braves vs Yankees prediction for Saturday, June 22.
Although the Braves have been playing extremely well as of late, their offense will be put to the test tonight. The Braves have excellent numbers against Marcus Stroman in the past, hitting .289 as a team. I say they’re gonna be put to the test because Charlie Morton is on the mound for them.
Morton has been effective at times, but his numbers against the Yankees are not ideal. The Braves bats need to come alive again if they want to have a chance of securing the series win in the Bronx.
Over the last week, we’ve seen a Braves team that is looking more and more like themselves. It was only a matter of time before their superstar hitters came alive, as they have plenty of talent, despite battling all of their injuries and losing Ronald Acuna Jr. for the season.
I trust the offense to do well again tonight, but I cannot back the Braves simply because of the Yankees success against Morton.
It’s the toughest stretch of the season for the New York Yankees, as they’ve lost four of their last five games. The one thing they have going in their direction is that it’s only a matter of time before they put all of the pieces together.
Tonight, they can end their small losing streak against Morton. The Yankees are hitting .310 over 145 at-bats against Morton, and sluggers Giancarlo Stanton, Aaron Judge, and Juan Soto have all gone deep against Morton in the past.
The Yankees have a lot of issues with their bullpen and it is definitely something they’re going to dress after the All-Star break at the trade deadline.
Due to the Braves' success against Stroman, and their recent bullpen struggles, I also cannot back the Yankees, especially at their current price. However, I am confident that the offense will find success against Morton.
Braves vs. Yankees
Betting Pick & Prediction
The Yankees offense was silent last night, but tonight I expect the bats to wake up. They’ve got a terrific matchup against Morton, and I expect them to put up their fair share of runs on the scoreboard.
As for the Braves, I think they will continue their offensive success as well.
It’s a bit of a contrarian play, but I cannot see tonight's matchup becoming a low-scoring ball game. I like the over, and the odds are already already beginning to move at most books.
