Druw Jones was the odds-on favorite to be the top pick in the 2022 MLB Draft a mere week ago.
Not anymore.
Cal Poly infielder Brooks Lee caught heavy steam Friday morning. He usurped Jones for the No. 1 overall selection and also passed Jackson Holliday and Termarr Johnson in the process.

This isn't a knock on Jones — he has the lineage, accolades and jaw-dropping stats — and is more about price.
There was buzz the Baltimore Orioles could go the cheaper route with the top pick, however, it was Johnson — not Lee — who insiders believed would be first off the board.
Lee logged 115 games over three campaigns at Cal Poly. He's fresh off a 2022 season in which he slashed .357/.462/.664 with 41 extra-base hits for the Big West club. The 21-year-old broke out in 2021 when he led the Mustangs in virtually every offensive category.
Consider this another monster move in a draft market.
Aidan Hutchinson was favored to be the top selection in the NFL Draft, then Travon Walker swooped in days before.
Paolo Banchero followed suit last month in the NBA Draft he he overtook Jabari Smith Jr., who went third.
Most recently, Juraj Slavkovsky made waves in the NHL Draft and passed up long- time favorite Shane Wright, who was taken fourth.
