Cubs vs Athletics Preview, Prediction, Betting Analysis
In tonight's matchup, we are backing the over at 8.5 runs. For the Cubs, Ben Brown is getting the nod. In his first appearance this season, he threw 2 2/3 innings, allowing three walks, four hits and three runs. Last season, he also struggled as he posted a 3.86 ERA over nine away games.
The Cubs games have gone over 8.5 runs in three of their past four games. Chicago's bats are heating up as Seiya Suzuki and Kyle Tucker each homered in Chicago's most recent series against Arizona.
On the other side, Joey Estes will get the start for the A's. He has also had struggles in the past. Estes posted a 5.01 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP in his rookie season. He also allowed 23 homers last season and notably, in his lone start against the Cubs, surrendered six runs on nine hits in just one inning.
We are backing the over at 8.5 because we believe both offenses will come out hot tonight.
We are also backing Chicago to get a win tonight. After their Tokyo trip, the Cubs split a series in Arizona. The bright side here, however, is that the Chicago bats started to show up. Tucker tallied six RBI across the series and I expect him to continue his hot streak tonight.
The A's will be debuting their new stadium tonight in Sacramento, but the Cubs will be playing spoiler.
